I've been playing this game and it's okay and the many problems I had were overly aggressive AI even though it was on normal, the aim assistant barely does anything even when on max. I would recommend making the AI more like HL2's combine, make an easy mode, and give the player more opportunities for health and H.E.V. power.

Normal is easy mode. The developers thought that it'd be a good idea to rename easy to normal, and normal to Black Mesa.

If skill 1 (easy, now normal) is for real too difficult for you, mess with the skill.cfg to make enemies weaker, or yourself stronger.

Close and open the game, then it should take effect.

It is not so bad. Particularly hard are guarding portal machine to Xen and defeating Xen bosses. Though they all are doable.

the ai aim or movement or both? i think its fair on the easier modes but then i played this game 2 3 years ago, not sure on the new updates.

What I find ludicrous is the difficulty spike after Questionable Ethics. All fights before, I could easily pass on medium difficulty. Then suddenly the lobby battle happens and it seems like the marine's AI and damage got turned up to 11. Within seconds, from an easy game this turned into one of the most difficult ones I played.
I tried it again with lowest difficulty - no luck. Had to resort to god mode. After 40 minutes spent on that single fight, I expected a moment of calm to recollect my senses, but I was put into an even more difficult battle. I don't think I will return to this game, at least for some time.

I find it challenging. Even though I have to retry it many times in a row, I still manage to overcome it by trying different strategies and learn how to conserve my ammo.

lmfao enemies can see you through walls and prefire all the ♥♥♥♥♥ time. This really sucks

I played recently both Black Mesa and the original game with controller and BM is without doubt harder. I had problems especially with HECU soldiers - they are more numerous and considerably more difficult to fight than in the original. I think that something like mentioned mod True Easy Mode should be native part of BM settings, so a player could choose from: easy, normal, Black Mesa, hard.

Difficult? Really? If anything games today are just easy. I think difficulty has everything to do with a player's dexterity. I once felt DOOM was difficult yet that game is so easy.

If anything we have way too much health. I recall dying within 1-3 hits with games, BUT now unless it's set to the highest difficulty you could walk into a lot of it and no worry. Lower difficulties you can just walk into everything.
