I am not sure if this is a bug and never played the original Half-Life.

I am stuck in Chapter 6: Blast Pit, with that big tentacle monster. I have activated the ventile and don't know what to do next. Then I jumped down in the severs again (was there before) and can't go up anymore. The Proplab 04 Exhaust door doesn't open anymore. Here are scrennshots:

Just want to say, I reloaded a state before going doiwn and killed the tentacle now. But I believe I was stuck there.

It's not a bug. Its a puzzle of sorts. If you're still stuck watch a play through.

The thing is, I went to this route and the first time the door opened up. The second time I jumped down, the door does not open anymore. I did the job there already and wanted to visit again and the first time there was no puzzle to open the door (screenshot shows).

I end up loading a state before jumping down (second time) and going the other way.

I'm stuck on the same place. I think it's a bug, cause the door has a green light, and is supposed to be open

I wish a developer would read and respond to this. As you stuck on same place, it is likely to be a bug. As I explained before, I could go through the first time, but not second time. The place was already visited and the puzzle was solved the first time I was there.

I tried to escape there (when I was second time on this place) for hours and hours, day after day and after this post, I came to the conclusion that only a previous state can help me. Even if you do not manually save, the many autosaves should literally save you. I am curious how it resolves on your part.

I am currently stuck on another place, because of performance issues (precise jumping needed and performance goes down to 5 to 7 fps for 15 minutes or so (made it twice only to die after). But that is another story. I am just sick of reporting bugs and erros in games in general, because nobody cares what I write. /rant over

I haven't play this game in years, but I did find a place in which that could soft lock you in. I remember some door you could only open or close by a switch that was only in one side of the door.. but the door would close slow enough that you could press the switch and then go through the door before it closes, completely soft locking you in with no way to proceed other than reloading a save.

Not saying this is the case, but if it was possible there, chances are...

when I played that level the door should open so yeah if it isnt opening and its your first time there then its a bug. The only reason I would think it isnt bugged is if you went back again... idk Ive never gone back the same path to confirm it.

The first time you go there, the door opens. But if you go back there, for whatever reason, the door won't open and you are softlocked. You are not supposed to go back there tho, so it won't happen to everyone. I only went down there again because i was lost

What a shullbit you talking, man? It's a ficking bug, definitely. Go down there twice, you're stuck forever. I'm just replaying the game in version 1.5.3 (newest afaik), seeing they still weren't able to solve it - all they had to do was leaving the door flag active. Very poor.

Hi, thank you for confirmation.

I played the game very far and had 20 h playtime without finishing it. After a long period of time I went back to the game to finish it once and for all (4 months ago). But realized that all my save files are not gone. One of the updates made all save files incompatible and is by design, according to the developers: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/362890/view/2954913786091919936

With the difference that all save files are gone and I have to start the entire game from beginning, not just a level. I'm so tired and abandon the game.
