You sound like you haven't even played the classic and GBA collection.
There are no ports, and no need for them. Both collections are emulation, and DS will be also be exactly that. Modern DS emulators already have both DS gimmicks sorted out - for the dual screen you either place screens side by side, or switch them on a button press, and for touch you just use mouse.

There's no mouse on consoles, though. And judging by the PC versions of these collections, M2 doesn't seem to know what a mouse is.

Well, as I said, these collections are just emulation, so it's up to emulators they used if they support mouse or not. I can assure you, DS emulators do support mouse, and Dawn of Sorrow is perfectly playable. Switch also won't be an issue as it has the touchscreen. PS4 and PS5 have touchpads. So the real question here is how will they overcome it on XBOX consoles.

As much as I'd love to see a collection of DS games (it would be an insta buy for me), I highly doubt it would ever happen.
As far as I know, M2 worked on the GBA ports using an emulator that they own (and made themselves). I don't think they ever worked on the NDS (I might be wrong, but I didn't find any on their wikipedia page).
The only ones I know of who did such a thing is the guys working for Capcom on Mega Man and last time I checked, their ports have been made from the source code of the game, not just emulation.

It's still possible, if Konami kept the source code somewhere, it can still be used to do the same, but anyone remembering the Silent Hill HD disaster knows that Konami is not famous for keeping their source code :(
I hope I'm wrong here, but I wouldn't keep my hopes too high

Let's all hope they do, I didn't play 2 of the DS ones so it would be good to play it on my PC.

I know but Capcom did not do the job. It's another company who programmed the collection and you have 4 MMZ from GBA and MMZX and another. It's common on steam, they've got third party to do the job. Konami can also dev the game by thereself.

You seem to be ignorant of what the Megaman Zero Collection on Steam is. First off, all four Megaman Zero games were ported from the GBA to the DS in a Collection all its own.
They didn't simply remain, "game of gba". Secondly, the Megaman Zero Colletion on Steam is actually, "Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection". It has 2 games that were originally DS games, Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent. SyruS was referencing ZX and ZX advent (the DS games) when he mentioned the Megaman Zero Collection.

DS games with both screens active can be practical on PC. Dawn of Sorrow simply has the hurdle of drawing seals with the original touch screen function. That hurdle is not difficult to overcome.

pretty sure these devs would be able do decent ds ports with solutions for multiscreen - touch screen gimicks . if you ask me drawning symbols gimick was never fun begin with on ds itself
