Castlevania DS Collection

Guys, do you believe that the collection of DS games will see next year 2023? Take a look, the first collection came in 2019 with Castlevania Anniversary Collection, the second collection came in 2021 last year with Castlevania Advance Collection that is two years spacing between one collection and another and that's why I believe that next year 2023 should arrive collection of DS with Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia maybe they'll put 1 extra game in that package anyway.

Honestly I'd rather they take the time to make new ports of at the very least one of the DS games. I really don't want to play DS roms after waiting for definitive ports of these games all these years.

Those games had the potential to top SoTN but were held back by the limitations of the hardware. I'd love to see either of the 3 games (Or all 3 in a perfect world) with high quality music, voice acting during dialogue scenes, and the necessity for dual screen features removed.

But yeah, I'm shocked they haven't even put out some lazy rom collection by now. Its really weird.

There's nothing wrong with emulation, especially when its done well (and the Advanced collection falls in that category). What would a port bring that emulation wouldn't? And hell, with emulation you might have the option to use already existing ROM hacks which is a big bonus to some of us.

I mean yeah they could go and add VA and redone music.....but when has Konami ever done stuff like that? You must be getting spoiled by the recent SQEX stuff,

A port would likely bring no more seals in Dawn, no more teleporting in Albus mode in Ecclesia, and no more Sisters Mode in Portrait. Because those touchscreen features are really clunky.

Such things ARE fixable with emulation.
Some examples for the DoS seals:

If romhackers can do it, so can whoever they contract out the work to (and given M2's track record, they easily could).

Hah dude I barely play modern games so I don't even know what you're talking about regarding SquareEnix to be honest.

But no like, the idea of definitive or upgraded ports was something that was around for even the PS1 and PS2 era, especially with Capcom games. I say idea because yes, while Marvel Vs Capcom EX Edition added a few cosmetic and gameplay touches here and there, it was on inferior hardware. Nowadays since these older games don't have limitations on modern hardware it just makes sense.

Also, you look at games like the modern ports of Wild Guns and Ninja Warriors, and they're great examples of really adding more life to these older games while still retaining what made them good games in the first place. But I mean, those are kinda extreme examples.

I don't think there is anything wrong with emulation but in this day and age its just lazy. I know that nobody wants to talk about it because they think the FBI will break down their door, but we've all been using roms for like two decades now.

P.S. if you want a Konami example, refer to the PSP port of SoTN...which was even used for the PS4 port of the game! (Which is cool and stupid considering they didn't even reimplement R2 and L2 >_> )

Tragic Freudian typo with "falls"

I suggest reading what I wrote, because that's not a typo.

There have been a select few originally DS/3DS games ported to PC

So its definitely possible, and would be especially good since Dawn, Portrait, and Ecclesia are probably all better than Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance.

Yes please! I love what Capcom did with the Legacy Collections of the Mega Man games, Castlevania deserves no less, these games are classics and should be preserved on PC for the ages. Oh, and bring Requiem too. Rondo and SOTN are still 2 of the best games in the Franchise without a PC version after all these years.....
