Liking where the story is going or that there is more too it. I heard a new project was coming but that was supposed to be a couple years ago. Any news?

Do not take MatPat's video seriously. While it showcases some of the easter eggs, the actual theory is completely wrong. These easter eggs are completely unrelated to DDLC, and the new game was planned to have no relation to it whatsoever.

The next game by Team Salvato is gonna be another VN, but it’s been stated as being unrelated to DDLC. We’ll probably see a few easter eggs relating to DDLC, but that’s all they’ll likely be with no larger story impact. Then again, this is subject to change over the passage of time.

If I recall it had taken Dan Salvato 2, maybe 3 years to make DDLC. He handled everything outside of the art and voice line, from the writing, to the coding, to the music. I’m unsure how large a team is working on the new VN, if not another largely solo project, but with it being stated to be significantly longer than DDLC we can only guess how far along it’s come.

It's still in the works, we also got some new lore related to it in ddlc+ so thats neat.

At the time of DDLC's release, Salvato stated that there were no plans for additional content for DDLC or any of its characters. This information was available at the time of that video, but the Game Theory team failed to get proper research on developer statements on the game. Drop the attitude. I know this game better than you do.

While I'd very much enjoy a streamlined reveal of Monika being the hero of the story, if only to have those who thought she was supposed to be the "villain" go back over the story and check what they must have missed, theorizing has always been one of the biggest hooks of DDLC and I'd rather Monika remain the hero in my own opinion of the story.

Dan Salvato only needed to give us "some" of the answers hidden throughout the game and files, but just enough clues to lead us to our own conclusions without feeling they are unanswered dead ends. If we were given all the answers I'm sure some people would be disappointed with the results, so I don't think we'll ever see a true "conclusion" to the story. That said, Dan Salvato gave us the mod tools to make our headcannon into a branch of the game to share with other fans of the game, so I'm sure there are a few unofficial mods out there that can offer what you're looking for with their own individual takes on the subject.

In short, I'd rather DDLC not be expanded to the point we have too many concrete answers and I'm fine with the next game not being related to DDLC as it might give us something entirely new to enjoy. I generally hate dating sims, but I'm certainly looking forward to whatever else comes from Team Salvato. However, if you're looking for mods here are a few of my favorites that I feel remain true to the spirit of DDLC without turning it into something it's not or shoehorning in OCs.


True Literature Club
TLC is a rather short mod that aims to add endings to each of the characters. There's even a shortcut feature to blast through the 3 poem minigames with a result screen saying who Liked, Loved or Hated the poem. The game doesn't change until you get to the Weekend choice.
Monika is still self-aware, but has a valid reason for choosing not to corrupt the game which you will only achieve if you unlock her Sunday choice.
Hint: Each character must love one of your poems at least once and none of them can hate any of your poems.

The Purist Mod
If you happen to be a fan of dating sims or want a fuller DDLC story this mod adds +11 hours of additional content, custom music and delivers it's own messages of patience, trust and acceptance. This mod doesn't change much until after the Sunday choice, after which you get into deeper backstories of the characters that feature both a good ending and bad ending. While this mod doesn't go through the "second half" of the base game it doesn't ignore what had taken place and even has a few cheeky reminders sprinkled about. The mod starts in Monikas "space room" where she is not happy that you reinstalled the game and tries to delete it, but realizes her power to manipulate the game has been taken away by the mod. She reluctantly agrees to help you "save them".
While Monika chooses to help you achieve the ending you wanted behind the scenes her route is still not an option. Can you prove that happiness can be found here?

Monikas Before Story
Despite the name the mod isn't actually about Monika only. Rather, the game takes place shortly before the base game had taken place and the mod forces the story to alter in a way that the MC is the Club President, Monika is the Childhood Friend, Sayori is a close friend of Monikas while the MC tutors her in math and Natsuki and Yuri remain relatively unchanged. The MC has more personality as he's not some generic slouch, though the general beats to the base game are followed with these minor/major tweaks. Monika IS an option, but each character has their own story to tell should you pursue it.
Several times through the game it seems that the MC knows more than he's letting on, but at the same time it's more like a deja-vu dream to him. The game forcefully deletes the character files in the beginning, but if you want to dig a bit deeper there's a way to unlock a 2nd full game hidden within the files.
Hint: Don't let the mod delete the files.
