This discussion is a collation of my speculations for Project Libitina, DDLC Plus, and MES, and how they all relate to one another. Further support/criticism needed to improve theories.

My current speculations are as follows:

Metaverse Enterprise Solutions runs simulated universes on virtual machines. We already know at least five different simulated universes exist. Monika has access to 3 or 4 of these universes, and apparently can freely create or destroy them (see email: Rea Vorte, Side Stories).

The virtual machines (universes) are referred to shorthand as VM[number]. VM1 seems to be Doki Doki Literature Club!, and VM2 is likely to be Project Libitina. Note the side stories are a "control simulation" where the player character is not present. In VM1, the player character is how Monika forces interaction between herself and the user. The user cannot interact with Monika in the control simulation. Monika would have to manufacture this player character herself to interact with the user in VM1, indicating Monika's interference with VM1 is targeted and calculated - Lib suggests this may be why the player character is so dissonant (see email: Lib Musi, Character Discrepancy), but this doesn't explain why Monika needs to interact with the user so badly in the first place. This point will be revisited later. Also note that all of Monika's elevated access permissions are hidden in the control simulation, which is why she never creates a way to receive user input in the side stories (see email: Rea Vorte, Side Stories).

It is stated that VM1 and VM2 share a memory pool. Ravi suspects that memory being freed from VM2 for VM1 to use is not getting zeroed out, so those in VM1 with high enough access permissions would have access to memory from VM2 (see email: Ravi Raso, Issues caused by unprotected memory). Monika, the only VM1 character with such permissions (because she is the president of the literature club), can access these memories. Events in Act 3 of VN1 support this heavily - the rest of the game is deleted at this point, so the only remaining things in that universe are Monika, the user, and the leaked memory from VM2. This is why when the user closes the game on Monika in this act, she is left alone with only memories from Project Libitina (VM2),
which is why she would explain the user's absence in such horrific ways ways as:

1. "Whenever it happens, it almost feels like I've been killed or something."
"It's a really horrible feeling..."

2. "I had another really bad dream."
"You're not the one doing that to me, are you?"
"It seems to happen whenever you quit the game..."
"So if you could try to avoid doing that, I would be really grateful."
"Don't worry, I don't think it's caused me any harm, aside from mental scarring."

3. "It makes me feel like I'm trapped in Hell."

4. "Okay."
"I'm just going to accept the fact that you need to quit the game once in a while."
"I'm starting to get used to it, anyway."

This is further evidenced by deleting Monika on a new Act 1 save file - Sayori is now club president instead, and thus gains the elevated access permissions, resulting in her seeing the memory from Project Libitina, being unable to mentally cope, and promptly committing suicide.

So now we get to the theoretical parts. It is probably safe to assume Monika knows that Project Libitina exists. And if she does, she likely wants to stop the events of it. If we decode her character file (monika.chr) we get a message that seems directed at the user, a plea for help. An excerpt reads:

"I think you might be able to go back...or however you want to put it...

...To go back and tell them what's going to happen.

If they know ahead of time, then they should be able to avoid it.

They should...if they remember their time with me in the other worlds...they should
remember what I tell them."

The first line seems like a hint at loading a previous save, as that is how time is manipulated by the user in VM1. The second and third lines seem to be Monika's request, she wants the user to inform "them" of what will happen so they can avoid something bad. My interpretation is that "them" is the other girls from the literature club, and that Monika wants you to warn them (however they may manifest in the other VMs) about something that can prevent Project Libitina entirely. The last line alludes to how the girls may be present in every VM universe, and Monika is aware of this and wants to help them.

This would explain Monika's tenacity to make contact with the user, but without further details about Project Libitina it is hard to say how accurate this is.

And now for details on TEST VM and VM2. Ro's email suggests none of the VM1 MES team have much information regarding VM2 (see email: Ro Teether, Binary data in VM2?), but the team are isolating and decoding data from VM2 to get a better idea of what it may be. TEST VM is the result of this, a read-only VM used as the team's first window into what Project Libitina is (see email: Paula Miner, Let's move on). Paula believes VM1 has given the team all the data they can get. She also mentions that someone with "Monitor Kernel Access" (MoniKA)'s level of elevation in real life is "unrealistic", and their priority now lies with stabilising connection to VM2.

Note that the level of elevation for TEST VM is "Monitor Adjacent Runtime-Level Access" (MARLA). Marla is likely to be either the manifestation of Monika within Project Libitina, or another character in that universe with heightened access permissions who can influence the game, and by extension the universe.
