content wise its alot for 60 dollers but quality wise? ds3 is better.


i loved ds3, ds2 and then ds1.


the biggest hate is the game feels unfun, the bosses lack meaning and the game just feels so off.

Is there a reason it feels unfun? It's easy to feel like you need to be a completionist for things that may not be important to you or your build. I don't like using summons and used to force myself to finish all catacombs, I now just skip them unless they have deathroots.

When I first started the game, I also took a DS3 mentality and focused on stamina rather than vigor. Given how hard everything hits, especially late game, I enjoyed myself much more when I could take a little bit of punishment. I generally aim to have at least 50 vigor by the time I get to Malenia.

However, this may or may not be why you don't find it fun. If you can provide a little more detail, perhaps we can get to the source of your discontent.

i just feel like the game is less effort and from is falling off tbh. i feel like they are struggling to hit the bar like what happened to borderlands

i did and got it on sale since i was unsure if i liked it, it was fun for more bosses but the game did not feel as fun ad the dark souls game.


i guess its the open world, in the old games the bosses ramp up and get stronger but this game is like go where the wind takes you.

contains all the mythos behind the aesthetic of the worlds they have been building in its predecessors
Explore each area, find its caves and bosses, explore this vast world, its stories... This is how it should be played first time

I disagree. It was well balanced, looked great, and had a great feel to it. There were weaknesses that can be critiqued, but I have no issue saying it's the best one in the Dark Souls series by far. I also played the crap out of the other two games, it's not like I hated DS1 or DS2.

Dark souls 3 has a worse humanity system, worse pyromancy (making it scale on two stats was weird)

Worse sorceries... A worse-hub-based map... Worse lore... And the enemy pool was mostly weird gothic knights.

Idk... Balance aside... Dark souls 3 is the most diminishing of diminished returns

I don't even think it understands what made the first so good.

A problem elden ring corrects, with a focus on all of those systems and the way the work.

It has a better map again, they made sorceries cool again, making pyromancy a faith... Is a choice...

Elden ring feels like the first sequel to dark souls 1 to me

The first and the second games are bad, they feel off, the combat is a shame, i would rather play a dungeon crawler
Combat in 3 only loses to combat in Bloodborne and ER

No, I played very little PVP. I'd wager that 98% of my time in that game was PVE and I have around 500 hours logged there. I'm talking about balance of boss and world difficulty. The vast majority of deaths felt like your fault, that you could have done something better, or that you mistimed a dodge or counter attack. Despite difficult movesets, there is also the sense of mastery that you could learn to dance all around a boss and motivated you to become better.

From my perspective, pyromancy and sorcery were too strong in DS1 especially and DS2 but to a lesser degree if you play Scholar of the First Sin. Unless you are looking for the shotgun darkbead which trivialized so many bosses.

So I largely disagree with this opinion but that's ok. Everyone has their own style in what they appreciate. But from the Dark Souls world, I'd say they got it just about perfect. The weapon arts needed a little more refining to be fair.
