Leaving this in case anyone else runs into the aspect ratio problem that seems rather common with this game. I encountered it myself and contacted support to no reply. Went to display settings and changed the display resolution to 1600 x 900. Ran the game, and it worked well.

If it doesn't work for your computer, it might be worth experimenting with other resolutions.
