I've read that people had trouble with it. Will the game simply detect that my steam account has the licences for Hitman 1 and 2 or will I have to do something? Or is it such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that people really have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of being able to unlock the legacy content at all? Just want to be sure.

you install hitman 3 and restart steam

You need to have the games of course, create an account with iOi for account management and do everything from there, you also need to login with THAT ioi account to HITman 1 and 2(or hitman 2 if you already have Hitman gold available from there).

basically if you have use ioi in the prior games use it for the website that way they know, if you don’t, create one and log in to the prior games and THEN do the hitman 3 process and you should it unlocked.

Kay I remember it being easy enough when I got 2 but I like to be cautious, especially when I saw people posting that the content wouldn't unlock despite owning all three games

Yes, maybe start the game once or twice, thats it.

launch h3 once, restart steam, launch h3 again

You don't even need to restart steam. Launch H3, close H3, re-launch H3.

I'm gonna do that, may as well err on the safe side. Kinda sucks that this'll be done downloading in a few minuets and then Elden Ring will drop in like 40 minuets.
