Horizon Zero Dawn was exclusive to PlayStation for a few years before they finally made a PC port. Forbidden West might get a PC port, but if so it's likely to be in a few years.

If you accidentally purchased Horizon Zero Dawn because you thought it was Forbidden West, you can simply get a refund.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released on PS4 in 2017 and on PC in 2020. I wouldn't expect Forbidden West on PC before at least 2023.

There's this new thing called consoles. Sometimes they get games that are exclusive to them. It's only been going on for 30-something years, so I can see how you may not be familiar with the idea.

You seem frustrated. It seems like you didn't expect this coming from Sony. Weird!

Forbidden West isn't on Steam so you must have bought Horizon Zero Dawn by accident. Everyone knew that the game was only going to be released on the PlayStation, your the only one that didn't. Sony was very clear what platforms it would release on.

Anyway the game will probably be released on the PC in a few months.

Months? That’s seems improbable because Sony probably wants to boost its ps sales. So it might release on pc in few years

Months? That’s seems improbable because Sony probably wants to boost its ps sales. So it might release on pc in few years

I disagree and your assuming that Sony are going to stick to the same strategy they did in the past. I think Forbidden West will definitely be released in a year at the most. I'm willing to bet my kidney and £1,000,000 I'm that confident.

Also things have changed and Sony will lose money if they wait 3 years to release it on the PC.

First, who would want your kidney (which is illegal to resell in most of the world), and do you even have the money to bet? Second, Sony won't lose money if they wait to release FW on PC: in fact, they'd have to spend money to port it, and as long as the FW sales on PC offset the expense of porting - or the expense was offset by the sales on PlayStation - then anything extra is profit. It would be more accurate to say that Sony won't make as much money as they could if they also offered a quick PC release, but they made a fair haul with the HZD PC port thanks to a wave of "hey, this used to be exclusive to console, come buy it and see what you missed." There's no reason that the same tactic won't work again.

Well I’d be really really happy if the game would release early on pc

I don't think the OP bought HZD by accident.

What they're saying is that they bought HZD at some point in the past, played it, and then now, FW comes out and... now they feel like they gotta get a whole new console/system just to play the continuation of the game, which is a valid complaint.

Is FW a stand-alone game or an expac? Because if it's an expac... then that's even worse. Then it would be as the OP says, they are basically being forced to buy HZD again for PS or wait potentially years to play it on PC.

OP bought HZD on a system different from it's original system, and is upset that the sequel is currently only available on the same original system - despite all news reports for the last few years stating that FW will only be released on the original system. I genuinely believe that OP is confused about the difference between HZD and FW: FW is a completely separate game, not an expansion/DLC for HZD. It's also perfectly reasonable for Sony to not spend money porting their new AAA game onto platforms that aren't their own - exclusive games have been part of console marketing for decades.

Edit: to clarify, by FW I mean Forbidden West.

I don't think a PC release would bother PS sales. I don't think PC directly competes with game consoles for sales. I feel like the cost of a gaming PC (heck my graphics card alone cost over $1k) vs a console keeps them separate markets for the most part. Not just price, but the slightly more complex nature of a PC also keeps them separate markets. I can't think of one person that I know who plays games on a console that also has a gaming PC or would want one. It does make sense not to release it on another competing console though but I think lost PS/console sales due to a PC port would be very minimal because they're two different budgeted tiers like Lamborghini isn't stealing sales away from Honda but say Toyota directly competes with Honda.

Oh and, how does Sony try to boost sales on something that is basically impossible to buy? Heck I haven't seen a single PS5 in any stores since release. I'm also on Sony's official reservation list and I still haven't had one purchasable to me. I'm lucky that I had a friend at work who was able to obtain a couple PS5s by jumping though some hoops to resell/scalp but lucky for me he sold me one at a loss (like I paid slightly less than normal retail because he didn't even charge me the tax like a store would). But point being, to boost sales they should try to make them available to the general population first which they are not lol.

Again, it's the exclusivity of it all. You and your friend had to do a lot of stuff just to get a PS5, right? If all - or even most - PS games were available on PC then you would have had no need to get a PS.

Sony has millions of console units sold, more than Steam users, so I would say they are not in a hurry.
