Lack of precision controls on PC

I do like this game so far but I have to say that it's a chore to build. Some parts have to be laid one by one and there's no real good building tools implemented like using grids or such. It doesn't make much sense to me. Even with all the upgrades unlocked it's still bad. You can't even modify roof tiles?

I also was disappointed that the workshop only has custom furniture and no mods that make the gameplay different. Such as better controls or harder gameplay.

I understand this is a casual game for casual people but even so I can't help but to feel the game wasn't ever designed with PC controls fully in mind. There are so many moments where I find myself thinking the controls could be perfect if you could do A and B and if I could just hold down SHIFT here and make a line... but no, you can't. You just can't and that is bothersome.

Many hours in this game are wasted fiddling with badly designed controls. It's a big shame.

I don't agree with your sentiments. The game is not casual, there some dedicated people creating out of this world interiors and exteriors using the very tools you complain about. Further more, this title has extended far beyond any horizon expected with the amount of free content added. There are millions of possibilities to explore and create. Never ending. Then there are the DLC's that can be added to the core game. The workshop, and the wonderful talented people that contribute, for free, all their artistic ideas, is updated every day. Plus, you get a free helpline with tutorials made by Flippers, and answers to questions and problems, from Flippers, all for free. We also have a dedicated Dev team producing new content, ideas and sorting problems. All this, for a few quid, and all you can do is complain. It is and insult to the creators, developers and your fellow Flippers. Like in real life, nothing comes easy, we have to work hard to reap the results.

Rudeness is against Steams rules. If you don't like someone elses opinion, say so in a nice way. Saying all someone can do is complain, is incredibly rude, and you have been reported.

House Flipper started out as a renovation simulator. Now it is also an interior design game. It was never intended to be a game where you can Build houses, so it's not fair to blame it for the lack of building controls.

In the Steam Workshop every development team decides for themselves what kind of code to make available to modders. Most companies are understandably reluctant to provide code for the fundamental aspects of their game such as difficulty, because they don't want to risk their game being irreversibly broken by a faulty mod. BTW, you can change the installation difficulty setting, or even turn off the minimap, in Gameplay options.

Hometopia is coming out in a few months. It might be what you are looking for. It's already on my Steam wishlist. :)

I don't see why anything you said justifies bad controls or lack of precision controls. Has no one here used photoshop for example? Holding down shift, alt or ctrl will always do something with any given tool, be it a straight line or anything. In this game none of those keys are used for anything other than sprinting which is a pointless mechanic in this game. Why even have sprint?

I don't see anyone's point in these replies other than the guy going against people being just rude and ad hominem. Personally don't even bother reading the rest. It contributes nothing.

If by "precision controls" you mean a grid, for more precise furniture placement, or some way to delineate an area for the placement of sand/gravel in the Garden DLC, these have been requested by many players for a long time, so they might be implemented in the future, maybe even quite soon.

When the Farm DLC comes out at the end of this year, features like building extensions and fixing roofs will be added to the base game as well.

I hope so. It's actually mind boggling to see so much DLC being shoveled to the player (I bought it all) but the controls feel like there's little thought put into them. Grid is one, but I'm surprised there's no overview point of view when placing walls or certain furniture. No god view or planning stage. It's just so bizarre. Also placing something like a sofa and you can only rotate it but not shift it to the right and left? There's no way to make sure wall lights are aligned on different walls because you have no measuring tools. You don't know how high that lamp is compared to the one on the other side. It just feels like lack of polish or perhaps a developer team still learning the trade but have made a hugely successful game.

It's hard to call this game a simulation. Some in this thread have said this and I don't agree. For instance installing radiators is mostly just for show. There's no need to. If there was a basic need for it then I'd understand. You don't even plan the plumbing or heating in the walls which is a crucial part of simulation were this a simulation game. Fireplaces don't need a chimney hole for example and there's no simulation at all about what makes sense and what doesn't. Like putting a toaster on the floor far away from an electrical socket doesn't bother anyone. Every prop in the game is just a toy. No simulation. It's all about your imagination.
