72+ weeks after launch and game is still F*CKED
after 72+ weeks from launch why the f*ck is this game still so badly optimised ... im running a 3600x cpu overclocked to 3.9ghz ... 80gb of ram .. a 6600xt with fidelityfx turned on and as soon as i light a torch or stand near a F*cking fire my fps goes from a steady 60-120 down to 5 .. seriously .. i want to play the game not feel sick from watching a stop motion w*nk fest, with my system specs i should be STABLE or are the devs just to busy Blowing each other to actually fix the issues

so i managed to sort of get it .. i switched to dx12 which lets me run in caves with the torch lit and trees on fire BUT HOLY SH*T ... the lightning strikes them selves kills the fps ... seems to be a combo of unreal engine and also dx11 not liking them

F**k off if you're not willing to accept that, and partake in the development of the game. It's impressive how far it has come, and how they release an update every week. I have a similar spec AMD system and don't have these frame drops you whinge about. Update your drivers, clean your filthy mouth and PC, do anything, but come into these forums and talk ♥♥♥♥. You all look like a whiny loosers.

Don't think it's fair to say the game is still in development. They choose to release and not go through the early access process like they have with their other game, Stationeers. A game that I'm a big fan of, and have enjoyed the way they have handled it's development.

Geneslicer replied to 72+ weeks after launch and game is still F*CKED April 24, 2023 @ 3:50:19 am PDTtotally agree with you here ... after 72 weeks from launch the game should be in a very stable playable state and instead we have a turd ... i got the game on launch and had to stop playing it because the bugs where making me sick .. roll on nearly 1.5 years and the same fps drop is still happening I have the same issues, running all AMD here. Honesty! You can do this without being disrespectful.
Constructive criticism! Try phrasing your sentences in a way that we can better understand you and the point you are wanting to make.
Details! Include the steps to make the bug happen again, so we can reproduce it and see what you went through. Mention your graphics card, RAM, Windows version and if you ran the game using DX11 or DX12 settings.

nah, all you need is 20/month, then you got RTX 4080 GPU power even.
Google Nvidia's GEFORCE NOW
works like a charm. Buddy in our group went for it.

Same here. When using a torch or campfire with an AMD/6600xt, my FPS drops from 60-80 to 2FPS! This issue has been known for 1.5 years, and the developers have stated that they are aware of the bug and are working with AMD to address the problem.
In my opinion, if you are charging money for an EA, having a bug like this go unaddressed for 1.5 years is unacceptable. I'm sorry.

I don't think the devs can fix that.
It seems it's an issue with how AMD cards are computing the ray-tracing of 'quick moving light sources'. Quite a number of other games seem to have same/similar issues. Not sure if it's a purely Unreal-Engine 4 problem or across the board of engines...
I've a thought: can ATI/AMD GPUs separate between ray-tracing and global illumination? Depending on how may light sources I have on in my glass-concrete high-rise, upon entering the building my RTX 3080 has a fraction of a second a freeze, as it's calculating all the new global illumination scene, when entering from the outside. Not so if I'm just running ray-tracing only.
You ATI/AMD guys tried experimenting with that per chance?
Here's another thought, since it gets better using DX12 instead of DX11 - I might be wrong, but are AMD/ATI cards doing the ray-tracing on the GPU itself, or is it offloading that to the CPU?
DX12 is doing a much better job in multi-threading across multi-core CPUs than DX11 does...

It all comes down to how the dev codes the game, and has nothing to do with a systems hardware.
STOP blaming the hardware, and stop supporting the dev's laziness.

Also, ever wondered why it's just happening with AMD/ATI cards and not NVIDIA cards? And why the impact is worse with DX11 than DX12?
Still think it is not the hardware/middle-ware at fault?
