It has so much problems right now and the devs are ignoring them all even if the community keeps pointing in the right direction. Just wait to see if they sort them out or if they persist on their ways, in which case buying is strongly not recommended.

If you do, at least read the store description BEFORE you buy so you KNOW what kind
of game you are buying.

Haven't seen the reviews but I know it's only about 60% positive. I've been playing since beta 1 and enjoy the game, so negative reviews mean nothing to me. I know what the game lacks, where it's good, and what needs improvement.

Overall, it's fun, challenging and immersive, and will only get better.

You should spend some time watching youtube vids on the game to see if it's something you'd enjoy.

I'm actually planning on changing my review to positive, but it needs to come with a warning, that its not a fully persistent online open world like Rust is. There are people coming in here expecting Valhime in space and its very much not that. Its more like short sessions of Ark or Deep Rock Galactic.

Do a mission with your friends with some survival-lite crafting/building and take on weather and task challenges. If you go into this game with a hardcore serious mindset looking for competitive pvp and wild mass base building, you probably want something else.

If you want to grab a handful of friends and play some PvE co-op that will sometimes be easy and sometimes be Polar Bears One-shotting your friends while you film it for youtube top ten deaths (*innocent whistle*), this can be a pretty chill game to goof off in and try some different challenges without the stress of constantly having o log in every day for a year to make sure someone hasnt taken all your stuff.

All buildings wipe between sessions but personally, as a builder, I think thats good. I want to build structures specific to the mission I'm on, not sprawling castles that make the challenges each missions presents totally worthless and too easy. I dont NEED to runt he entire length of the map to run 3 surveys and pop a boss, but I CAN do that if I want exp and some blueprint points.

If you have played tons of other survival games, this may not stand out all that much to everything else, but as someone who has only really taken on a few of the more recent ones, I've been moderately satisfied with my experience, and the worst issues get patched every week. The community is active (even if half of it is salty), and theres people around to discuss tactics with and let others know where bugs are so we can collectively avoid problems until the next patch and I think thats cool. so many other Survival games have their steam forums totally dead and I appreciate the people taking the time to post here.

Are there negatives? Yes. But what you like and dont like will entirely depend on the individual person. (Solo points tree kinda feels like a trap, etc)

Does this game still have a better economy and run better than New World, which had billions of dollars and manpower behind it? Also yes.

I am eager to find out how they try and do Fishing. Fishing minigames are a pain in the patoot and its always entertaining to see a Dev try and tackle the subject.

What they really mean is, if you are not capable of creating a plan and working
through it.. IE you can't manage your time.
Hope they don't have a dog, cat or... kids.

Reviews, your question and any answers you get are all subjective. Watch gameplay videos, do your own research and make up your own mind. Do not just click buy without doing the above for this or any other game, or at the very least anyone reading this, do not cry after if you don't

I did change my review to positive, not because I recommend it, but because I've played enough hours that I have to admit to getting my money's worth.

In truth, I think the reason I'm still playing is because I don't have any better game of this genre that I haven't already played out (Valheim, The Forest, Green Hell, a few smaller indie games), and because virtually hiking around in pretty green forests is appealing in the middle of winter.

This game made me ragequit several missions right off the start, so the best thing they could do for new players, who are in the stage of first deciding whether to continue the game or not, is to make the fist cluster of missions more friendly to tier one players. Bears are fine for people who know what they're doing, but they're impossible for new players. It sets a bad first impression. Valheim added trolls in the second biome, not the first one, which seems like the obvious choice. But here everyone who already knows how to deal with bears comes out of the woodwork with git gud. Bears should wait until the expected player level is tier two. The first step is a doozy and limits a new player's patience.

And bugs, and sloppy terrain, and unbalanced tech trees, and talents with questionable benefits, and workshop items with questionable benefits. It's just overall sloppy and not at full release quality. If this was early access, then sure, we'd expect them to iron it out over time, but they sent it out the door with the stamp of "it's done."

So uh, all I got for you is hiking in nature, which happens to appeal to me. I live in a desert and have to travel a couple hundred miles to hike in a forest that would be freezing right now anyway. Camping simulator.

save your money i refunded this game while still in "early access"... not because it was a hot mess (it was, still is) but because of the release date they were pushing for, I actually cant believe they released it in this state and dare to even call it a release.

imo this game deserves 0 positive reviews just because it is MOST CERTAINLY still a beta, while being labeled a full release.

the devs and dean were both fully aware of that back in "EA" when they decided to NOT delay the release.

Id wait 1-2 years more before even considering it. That is if Dean doesnt just dip on the game before then... wouldnt be the first time ;)

There are legit complaints but.....
99% of those reviews are from spoiled crybabies. If this hurts your feelings you should play some cuddle game.

I think you should wait to buy the game. It's fun sometimes, but mostly it tries hard to not be fun. It's just not ready.

this game reminds me of rust in the early days barely a game and barely function. tons of bugs. i would take a wait and see approach.

You will need to stick around the forums for a little bit to get a true sense of the game. Identify and weed out the same 3-4 people that defend this game at every corner. You'll know who they are. The description on the store page is misleading, the advertisements for the game are misleading, and the game itself shouldn't be categorized as a survival game as it lacks the survival feel you would expect from a survival game. It's a linear mission based game with real time restrictions on every mission.

I would say, it's a hard pass for now. Come back in a year or wait for a 80% Steam sale before buying it. Maybe it wont feel like an EA game by then.
