I'd hate to work for this mining/exploration company in real life. I mean, they saved money on our suits by removing the head light. ♥♥♥♥♥.

The premise that there are technologies that terraforms planets but they cant automate mining (or thought that mining by hand was more feasible than by big boy machines or automated robots) was already laughable.
Some sci-fi has covered mining etc and I must agree, this Company (companies, since theres a few according to lore) are all broke-ass fly by night con businesses as anyone wasting the expenses taking you to the planet and wasting the pod fuel dropping you and getting you back without equipping you with their best gear to make your limited time as productive as possible wouldn't make sense otherwise.
