Curiously, the same thing happens when I try to play the game through GFN. I have no Idea how this game eats all that memory, but it must be a severe video memory leak.

Yes, this just happened to me. Game was running okay.. 120+ fps but stutters when loading in new areas on max settings(RTX off) and bam, ran out of memory.

RX 7900XTX 24GB VRAM
Ryzen 7 5800X
32GB RAM
M.2 nVME SSD

It probably crashed in under 20minutes.

*Shrugs*

Maybe add more memory?
It seemed to ask for it...

I found this on utube.
It looks like a way to boost the memory cache size...
Looks interesting...
...a bit risky if you don't know how to set it up or remove it properly.
It may not work if you already "slammed" the allowable memory cache size in Icarus's game settings.

I already "slammed" my computers memory cache to maximum in Icarus's settings.
So the method below may not work for my computer.
Maybe in the future, Microsoft will allow us to add more computer memory cache using gig sticks. (Doubtful, for it may threaten memory module companies and security issues...using a gig stick for extra memory I mean... They can removed it too easily. )

After all, the operating system must "address" any new memory added to the computer
for it to work...

I'm pretty sure that "Out of Video Memory" has nothing to do with RAM. The thing that crashes the game is VRAM and there must be a serious memory leak or something(or wrong system requirements were given to GFN). And trying fixes is not an option in GeForce Now, there's no aceess to anything but the game.

Does anyone have a fix for it? Is there a specific setting? Is it launching in DX12 that causes it? Is it something new or will it be patched? It's a really bad memory leak.

From what I've managed to google, it's a very old issue(more than a year) that never really got fixed. It seems that it got worse since December.

Increase your pagefile.

How do you do that in GeForce Now?

You cant. Seems people are confusing system RAM with VRAM. Increasing your page file wont help with VRAM as VRAM is the memory on your GPU. Its Video RAM not system RAM. You cant increase VRAM unless you change your actual video card.

The only thing you can do is run in DX11, reduce your game resolution and lower your video settings. Although its obviously a bug as the OP has more than enough VRAM for this game.

It's obviously a VRAM issue, but some people said that increasing the pagefile worked for them, so they most likely did not have enough RAM. Anyway, whatever the settings you choose, the game will crash in GeForce Now regardless. A machine that the service lends you is well over the recommended specs, so the game has severe vram leak. I'm very curious why devs are not paying attention to this issue still, it's well over a year that people have complained about it.

Hey, their producer replied that they're willing to get help in fixing this issue. I figured that since it's taking them so long to fix it, they're just clueless about where the leak might be. The email to send your feedback was provided here - https://icarus.featureupvote.com/suggestions/255830/bug-please-fix-memory-leak-causing-crashes
If you see any consistent pattern with crashes, send an email to the devs and let's hope that they'll find what's crashing the game. They also often ask about the system you're running the game on, so that info might be helpful too. I've noticed that the guaranteed way to trigger the crash is to open inventory after like 15 minutes of play and that moving a lot across the map triggers the crash too.

For you and EVERYONE wondering, its due to system page file usage and size.

I had the same issue and yes with 32 gb of ram, I let windows auto manage the page file from here on out instead of a lower size and poof.. Video memory error stopped.

6950 XT here.

Yeah, I've helped people who had similar issues with other games. Same kind of errors happened when the page file (a.k.a. your virtual memory or VRAM - not to be confused with your GPU's "video" RAM) wasn't set correctly. Setting it to system managed fixed the issue for those games, too, so I'm not surprised that it's a fix for Icarus. It's not an uncommon issue because some people fiddle with the virtual RAM (page file) settings trying to get better performance but don't know what they're doing and set it incorrectly. It's almost always best to just leave it at "system managed."

Also make sure your HDD/SSD isn't almost full, that can cause issues if it's the drive your system is using for virtual memory because it can severely limit how much you have available.

You don't know enough about computers to know that you can't increase a pagefile size with GeForce now and fail to demonstrate even a basic understanding regarding how computer systems work (to wit: the link you posted for upvoting isn't for the same issue you're having), yet you now argue there is a "obviously a severe VRAM leak", whatever on earth that might look like.

Have you even tried to increase your pagefile size or is the problem just too obvious to you?
