My wish for Mini Motorways: Allow destroying houses
I have many ideas to improve this game. But I have only ONE HEARTWISH:
Please allow the demolition of houses!
It would be a small change for both the players and the developers, but it could be a total game changer in terms of flexibility for the players, especially in the endgame.
This game has a very poor endgame. It's over far too quickly, which I think is due to too few strategic endgame options for the player: Traffic lights are almost useless, roundabouts are sometimes helpful but in most situations not possible at all as they consume too much space.
Destroying houses would give players the opportunity to rethink, rebuild and restructure their street layout.
Removing houses would also reduce the very large influence of chance in this game. Randomness is fine to a certain extent, but in MM maximum high scores are only possible if the random generator allows for a perfect traffic flow. But in the endgame, traffic often cannot be optimised at all if, for example, a bypass is not possible at all because rows of houses block a theorectical bypass.
Demolishing houses would solve the problem.

the weapon of the RNG is buildings
your task is to outsmart the RNG with connections, while RNG is trying to throw as many impossible places for buildings as only there is space for & the devs set limits in general & for a map
your task is to find out where RNG will spawn on which map, under which conditions & to bring the game to a state, where you can have at least options to act in your favour
the game is your opponent, the RNG is your opponent
you are asking for RNG to go easier on you, well ... 5% the devs will listen, sorry ...
they have not even a solution so far for the motorway/roundabout scrap delay, which is still within the options of re/moving connections

Your assumption is that this RNG is intelligent, which I doubt VERY much. I think it is highly irratic and 90% random. Random is the opposite of intelligence. A totally randomized locating of house (areas) can't be predicted and worked against. I think you overestimated this game's logic.

Easier? That is exactly NOT what I am asking for.
I want MORE options to react to the totally randomized and sometimes irratic placing of houses. I am asking for more weapons to fight a LONGER endgame.

it's difficult to programm an erratic RNG & it's even harder to programm an intelligent, but it's not that hard to programm a pattern a RNG can move along
no RNG is "totally randomized", there is not even a working theory what "totally randomized" might mean, at best you could get a hardware based RNG but a game has only a software aka algorithm based RNG, which is predictable, thus you can outsmart it, not because it's intelligent but because it's predictable, it has limits
& i think you're giving the devs more credit regarding intelligence than they deserve, this game is not the work of geniuses

depending on the map there are different RNG programmed
there are sometimes daily/weekly challenges where houses appear not clustered but spread thus more randomly than usually

That's right. I would call these things GENERAL PRINCIPLES for playing. These are not unique to this game, Mini Motorways.
The TOOLS (a.k.a. weapons) the player has in this particular game, are building / removing ROADS, placing TRAFFIC LIGHTS, ROUNDABOUTS, TUNNELS/BRIDGES. No more.
Removing houses would be another tool how the player could more actively intervene in the events.
But I very much doubt, the devs will change such basic concept. They don't even delete obviously hacked high scores...

Somtimes you get those houses that are simply unconnectable, especially in the endgame, and that can cause a gameover really quick since they do produce their markers. Lets say if they released a casual mode/creative mode, then yes, i would love to play without any points pressure and just make the city pretty and effecient.

Or you are offered 3 (or 5 whatever) random locations where you have to re-build the demolished house.
Or you lose some of your points, maybe 10% of your current score for each demolished house.
There are so many options for giving the game a greater depth without losing the main game philosophy/idea. If only the devs would want it...
And the problem of "infinitely long running games" could be easily avoided if the output of packages rises a certain percentage per week, like 2% or 5% maybe. At some point it would become simply impossible to handle that amount as the numbers of houses = cars are limited on a limited map.
