Its probably lost in translation, but I dont understand the prerequisites for this achievement?

This weeks challenge is a good one to get it. 82/82 achievements :)

you need to wait till there is a challenge (weekly/daily) where unlimited motorways are a given. you need to use at least 9 motorways on one map but you probably won't be able to get that achievement with the usual maps or challenges.

ok, that explains it. no idea how i was ever gonna get to 9 highways in a regular game

It's possible in regular games as well: I got 9 highways in the Los Angeles scenario #3 "Gridlock":

Speaking of challenges, do the "use x amount of roundabouts/tunnels/etc." only count in regular/ on challenge runs?

I think only in regular games.
No challenges, no dailys, no weeklys.

Tip:
Run game in a window, do something else parallel to MM.
In MM, start a game with good options for what you need (examples: Rio/Zürich for tunnels, Munich/Moscow for bridges, LA for highway and roundabouts).
Connect the first store.
Let the week pass without doing anything.
Take what you want to push: tunnels, bridges, highways, roundabouts. Use all of it.

That works for a couple of weeks. If the stores start to jam, let them. Don't try to prolong the game. Better start a new one.

That way, I managed to get 50 tunnels, 40 roundabouts, 30 bridges in a day in approx. 15 games!
Current status: 81 out of 82 achievements. :-)
