Linux?

So how about it. This is the only reason I got Mini Metro, would be nice to have native version of Mini Motorways too. Otherwise, pass for me.

Answered in the FAQ why no linux, but likewise, no linux means no purchase for me. My current rig is Windows, but my previous ones were not, and as soon as Windows 10 runs its course, this will be my last Windows rig. I have to continue to fill my Steam library appropriately.

Holding out to see how proton handles this game on Linux.

Maybe the steam Deck being a thing will boost Linux users enough to push developers.

Yeah, I was hoping it would have support too. Any experiences with how it handles on Proton and friends?

I would love to know about the linux support too, pre-ordered my steam deck and knowing how it runs in either proton or nativly is a big purchase decision for me, if not then im more than ok to just stick to playing it on my iPad through apple arcade for the time being

Hi, I have played this game with Proton Experimental for about 2 hours without any problems. Played it in Endeavour OS (Arch based distro). So I think on Steam Deck it will run ok.

I would like to see Android version of this game.

FWIW it runs perfectly under Proton for me.

This would have been an instant buy for me, but I wont support launch price with no Linux support. I will get it for a € whenever that is available, I have enough backlog.

Where? I can't find it in the FAQ.

At the moment there are not plans to offer a Linux version - unfortunately with Mini Metro, the Linux build is a tiny tiny sliver of our playerbase and ends up taking just as much dev time as the Windows and Mac builds for troubleshooting etc. Since we're a fairly small team working on multiple projects, we have to be mindful of how we prioritise things. (I am a Linux user at home myself so I'd be keen on revisiting it in the future when we've got less going on, but for now it's a no.)
I can understand. It's a shame more people don't use Linux though.

Thank you. Really is a shame, I hope steam deck will change those priorities.

Considering the Steam deck will be using Proton there won't be much motivation to create a linux build because of that either. The simple answer is that money and time is finite, there is little reason for such a small team who needs to budget every penny to have native support for a user base that needs much more work put into it that they get out of it compared to other platforms, especially when Proton works just fine with this game.

Running on Pop!_OS 20.04 here and it takes a while to load for me but runs perfectly fine after that. I imagine future updates will improve performance as they fix bugs and issues.

If there is a Mac version, a Linux version should be trivial.

I run on proton. It's fine except for audio glitches (but those are reported by several people on other platforms, so I assume it's not actually a proton issue).

There was a Mac version years ago.
