Is it worth playing?

Depends on what you mean by future. ... I don't think the servers are going to be shut down anytime soon but the devs have shown that they cannot push out new content at a reasonable pace and instead are content to simply increase the already grindy grind.

Add to that the usual trajectory that MMOs take when they become p2w (which the game recently did) and things don't look very promising.

As for gameplay, it's a casual solo friendly game that manages to be fun despite itself until you reach 60, which is when the never ending grind starts and the game shifts gear to being group content that is punishing to non-sweaties.

Yes. Devs are very active on their YouTube page. It's clear they are working to make the game as best as it can be

I think this game is amazing, and is suffering bad PR due to its early days...

I think the game is only going to become better and better as time goes on.

If this is what you consider 'a future', this is what it's going to generally be unless they go F2P.
Content may bring numbers up a bit, but it'll generally fall to around 16-20k once the initial hype is gone.

No. The game design permits copious amounts of trolling by jerk players. From Territory ownership, to training mobs on your AOE so you get aggro and die.

PVE in this game is pretty fun.
PVP is a frustrating gank fest.

But the real killer to this games longevity, is the PVP player base it attracts. PVP in an MMORPG is cool, as long as those players are put in an instanced box away from the rest of the community.

Hell yes, my favorite game ever made and I have 300+ hours right now and I can see myself running at least to 2k+. Endless loads of fun!

not with these ridiculous connection issues. I can't ever play without reseting my net and computer and doing cmd prompt stuff everytime. takes me half an hour just to get in the game and by then it's not worth it
