Patera replied to Thinking about getting into an MMO again after a year, Would you recommend this? January 30, 2022 @ 3:57:58 pm PSTAt over 1k hours in I can safely say yes. There are a ton of caveats to be sure. However at 40 bucks with no monthly sub, the risk vs reward is pretty low. I am pretty salty about issues in the game right now and not in love with things but have I got my moneys worth out of this if they shut it down tomorrow? Yes!
I don't usually get sucked into this many hours in a game without reason. There is good and great in here among the bad and awful.
Again though at 40 bucks vs the 1k hours I have put in, I will give it a thumbs up. For the record I am still playing daily too ;-) Elea - Hit It n Crit It - Verann

January 30, 2022 @ 4:02:13 pm PSTSpend some time and read a few reviews and read the posts on this board. Then make your decision. Also, it's worth looking at the trajectory of this game: https://steamcharts.com/app/1063730 There is no reason for players to make new characters, so you are likely to be on your own until "end game."

Those sad folks that spend like 300 or more hours on this game will never get it back and they know it can not afford to admit the game is not good at that point cause that would reflect on ones poor judgment.

hyperion replied to Thinking about getting into an MMO again after a year, Would you recommend this? January 30, 2022 @ 4:46:20 pm PSTShort term, yes. Long term, no. Read my review here and you'll see what I mean. I wrote it about a month ago, but I wouldn't change it. The basics of the game are great. Great game world, solid mechanics, good combat, nice harvesting. Great fun for 40-60 hours. And then all the ugly beneath the shiny veneer starts to show. Grindy as grindy can get and little reward for that grind. There are lots of little details you should know. For one, you will grind and walk a LOT. And you need to pick the right server and it took me several tries and several newly created characters to get there. Now that can change as your faction can lose all of the territory. If you're lucky, you choose the right faction and your faction sets up the lowest taxes and maxes out it's crafting stations to the highest level. That alone makes things much better. But it's pretty much a guessing game and maybe you will get lucky some day. The dev team seem to not have a clue what they are doing as they have done nothing to make the game better since release and a lot of things to make it worse.

You are right, it is worth $40, that's a no brainer. As a long term investment of your time is where the real question remains.

Well, not so much, I have almost 350 hours and I admit that the game has much to be desired and lots of issues and the direction of the game seems to be heading straight off a cliff. The real fanboiz hanging out here are either nuts or paid shills, or part of the dysfunctional game studio.

That is really ultimately it. There is a lot of fun to be had for 40 bucks and a ton of frustration too to be fair. This game isn't great 6 to 7 for me considering all the hours in but it has kept me at it. Met some good people, no monthly fee, actually having fun between the rants soooooooo XD

Well, I wasn't talking about you, you don't seem to be a troll at all. And i get it, I'm still hanging around too, learning, and hating the direction of the game in general, while still enjoying it best I can.

PCGamesRule replied to Thinking about getting into an MMO again after a year, Would you recommend this? January 30, 2022 @ 6:46:25 pm PSTIs it worth playing now? That depends on the following:
1) Will you join groups to do group content? If yes, depending on the server, you will have some fun, some servers CHARGE you to let you join, so there's that, other BEG you to join.
2) Can you find satisfaction doing things like questing, skilling up on trade crafts, gathering, playing the market (I never do this)? If so, the game is a lot of fun.
I've played almost 900 hours before I took a little break. I'm watching to see what they can do for people who want to do things solo. Lostark is adding all kinds of things to do solo, but I'm not interested in playing diablo with better cutscenes, so there's that.
MAYBE, someone in charge at AGS will step up and give solo players more to do in NW, FF did this for solo people by creating the trust system so a solo person can do dungeons with NPCs you've met in the game.
Game play wise, it's tight, combat is good, you can run away and get away if things go bad (against mobs, not people, they'll kill you). PvP is entirely optional, and you need to flag for it, so you can eliminate griefing.
Buy the game, play it for 1 hour and 50 minutes and decide for yourself.

GrailQuest replied to Thinking about getting into an MMO again after a year, Would you recommend this? January 30, 2022 @ 10:19:58 pm PSTSince launch, literally a new cheat or exploit every week. And AGS doesn't even say anything but let cheaters and exploiters keep doing it for literally weeks. https://forums.newworld.com/t/infinite-speed-bug-fix-asap-includes-video/644234
Even if there were a lot of people playing, I still wouldn't touch it. Probably most of the players intent on playing it are cheaters and exploiters, especially in anything to do with PvP.
Unbelievable amount of cheating going on and no action by AGS. And we're not even talking about bots yet.

The Stress Factor replied to Thinking about getting into an MMO again after a year, Would you recommend this? January 31, 2022 @ 1:06:41 am PSTStop reading my dude. It is up to you to figure out if this game is good. There are plenty of people playing this game and frankly the front margin of those players, rushed to 60 and are bored because they expect every MMO to be the same for the end game. Play the game, ingest it and make your own assumptions and reviews. Go have fun.

It only came out 11 months ago so taking a year long break would be difficult.
