New World has a long and bright future

New World has been a massive success and will have a long and bright future.

Despite a completely normal drop in concurrent players since launch, false claims that the game is 'dying' based on concurrent online player stats are unjustified.

Those numbers represent the players who are currently online, not the total number of players that still play the game.

The logical conclusion is that most players have been playing less frequently due to all the bugs (which is completely normal for any new MMO) and a lack of new content rather than a lack of interest.

Take Final Fantasy 14 for example... It was a disaster at launch, so much so that they had to fire the entire team and hire a new team to completely rebuild the game from scratch... a process that took 2 full years to complete. And just look at the state FF14 is in now... It's now one of the best MMOs and it continues to grow and develop as more new and returning players subscribe... but New World doesn't even have a monthly subscription, so it'll be much easier for early players to return to the game whenever they choose to.

This is exactly why the game was released without a monthly subscription fee.
The game was almost a year behind schedule, and development costs were far exceeding the already large budget to the point where they had to make the decision to hastily release the game from beta without a monthly subscription fee to make it easier for players to return while the developers continue to work on the game.
Why? Let's not forget that this game was developed by one of the largest companies in the world... with many impatient investors. News of the game's delays and over-budget costs were beginning to impact Amazon's stock, so they had to release the game as soon as possible in order to satisfy investors, which was definitely the right decision because: no investors = no funding = no New World.

So yeah, New World is certainly not a finished product, but it has immense potential and it'll only get better from here, so please stop complaining and be patient.

Instead of discouraging potential new players from buying the game, simply explain the current state of the game and encourage them to join when it gets better.

TL;DR
The game is still under development, give it some time and players are certain to return.

If you really think so, why are you still here in the Steam discussions of a game you falsely claim is 'dead'? Don't you have better things to do with your life?

OP, you seem desperate to defend he game and keep it all going, but the game is trash and apart from looking decent with good graphics, there's enough wrong with it to make people 'go play something else'. If Amazon can spend the next year making the game less boring, less repetitive and less grindy with no real reward for anything, then I might come back, but I haven't logged into the game in about 5 weeks and don't intend to unless they pull off some miracle.

FF14 reaches 90k concurrent players and everyone is "oh wow that game is great"

This "dead game" still has over 125k daily and people still complain

Well said Dr. God and absolutely correct too. Taking a peak at who's online at 3:46am and reporting that the game is dead doesn't represent a complete picture of popularity. Not by a long shot. A total number of active accounts is only something that Amazon can give report on and those numbers are very high.

The only kind of people who are desperately downplaying this game are the WoW Fanboys who are scared that WoW will be killed by this WoW Killer or they suck at New World. Simple.

Dude it literally dropped from 900+k players to barely holding a 60k-90k average now. Hell last week it could hold over 100k.

Numbers don't lie.. progression has been downward since launch. You're not huffing copium, but snorting it my dude.

>90% of NW players play 16hrs a day
there are ~50k-60k concurrent NW players online realistically
~50% of NW players are bots

See?
I too can pull numbers out of my ass.

Except my numbers are a little bit more within the realm of reality. :D
