Companion quality is worse compared to Kingmaker

While in kingmaker I enjoyed different party setups here I find most companions go from mixed bag to outright annoying, like I have to tolerate them tagging along instead of genuinely enjoying them.

I'm unsure whether this is due to the module or Owlcat choices, I guess Regill is an exception even though he too whines a lot.

Regill whines alot? Are we playing the same game? If you dont like any of the companions you got then you can always create mercs, personally I prefer almost all the companions overt kingmaker except ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Greybore. Although I do miss the tiefling twins.

This is going to be a divided topic. I like the companions for both, but generally prefer Kingmaker companions. Arushalae, Nenio, and Ember are all awesome, and to me, much more interesting than companions like Jubilost, Linzi or Amiri. Tristian is probably the most interesting companion to me in Kingmaker, but I feel WotR really has its standouts.

Nok Nok is pretty great in Kingmaker as well.

i liked most of the kingmaker companions more, jae is bae and regongar was an interesting take on CE (though arguably closer to CN). i almost didn't bother with him at all based on alignment alone but then was pleasantly surprised
on the other hand, octavia and linzi were way too annoyingly peppy for my tastes

regill's great tho, i love the idea of a LE gnome. and seelah gets a point or two for not fitting into the stereotype of a paladin, she almost feels closer to NG than LG. i like daeran but can understand why people wouldn't.

(i also just generally like the classes from Kingmaker's companions more, though i guess i could do a modded full respec of some WOTR companions into classes i enjoy more if i really wanted to)

Wha... It'd be different if I simply disagreed with you, but this is so off-base I can't even take you seriously.

I like the companions in WOTR, though I wish there was a bard companion like there was in Kingmaker. In one mythic path there CAN be a bard companion depending on what choices you make, but you get the companion too late in the game to make a difference.

Yes, I know I could just create my own mercenary bard companion, or dual class one of the existing companions to bard, but it's not the same as an NPC with dedicated bard personality like Linzi had :P

I think the both games are bout equal in terms on companions. But to me at least, both games lack a really unique or iconic companion. BG had Minsc and Edwin for example, and Pathfinder has.... who? No one really stands out.

I like wotr companions and I prefer them more, then in kingmaker. I don't pay attention to companions that are not in my main party though, so Nenio, Woljif, Seelah, who I don't like, don't bother me. Moreover Seelah left my party because of lich path, good riddance. My main party is composed of Daeran, Rigill, Arueshalae, Camellia and Wenduag (before she betrayed me in act V and I had to take Greybor in her place), and I find them all quite interesting as well as their stories.

Oh wow, I gave the companions in Kingmaker 2/10 and hated using them every second I did. Whereas in Wrath, they're easily a 7/10 and I'll use at least a couple every run. Such a huge, huge improvement over Kingmaker it's not even funny.

I'm talking both personality, voice acting, and initial build all together.

i liked kingmakers companion more, they were less cartoonish and had for me more relatable problems in their personal quest

To each his own I guess.
While there are companions in Kingmaker I liked a lot, I feel there are more companions I like in Wrath of the Righteous.

How dare you insult Jubilost Narthropple! The best Pathfinder character of all time! Probably the second best is Harrim! We need more dwarves... dwarves of TORAG!

What is not readily understood is that dwarven culture lends itself to work, so many of the songs are enjoyed while doing something constructive. That is not to say that a dwarf does not drink or will enjoy good times, but usually is hallmarked by a special event surrounded by work -- such as the age of which one forges their first weapon or the age which one digs their first gem stone. Probably the closest thing to a party would be the feast of Torag, which includes acts of smelting and smithing, along with hearty meals and heavy drink. There are also occasions to commemorate grand victory of the dwarves in battle.

Actually, you have little appreciation for how much sacrifice it takes for dwarves to join a human party. Most of the cultivated food comes form underground, which includes potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips, mushrooms as well as assorted mosses and edible lichens. Notably, the water itself usually is heavily laced with minerals, which is used to make more exotic fermented drinks to the tastes of dwarves. Only a commoner would believe that dwarven 'ale' exists -- as if there were tons of grains in underground caverns. Drinks more akin to a dwarf brew would be like Brennivín the national drink of Iceland. It is a purely Icelandic creation using potato mash and herbs (or in the case of dwarves mosses, ferns and liverworts) to create an unsweetened schnapps. Another drink similar would be like Fjallagrasa Moss Schnapps, which is made with real Icelandic moss. There is even a tuft of the famous lichen lovingly included in each bottle produced. Icelandic moss is so important that it is protected by law and has been used medicinally for centuries to treat things such as cough, sore throat and upset stomach.

This is outside of freshly prepared meals of blind-fish, eels, molluscs, shrimp, lizard, spider, leeches, millipedes, worms, snakes and bats. Also, they will eat birds which reside in caves and other cave dwelling species such as bear as a delicacy and for safety reasons. One might assume that sugar is devoid in a diet of a dwarf, but its not true -- they utilize beets to create sugar products. One of the most sought after candy of a young dwarf, and those young at heart is of course rock candy in an array of colors -- not easily spoiled and looks like gemstones.

Keep in mind that dwarves are a hearty race, everything they do is extended -- work longer, drink longer, eat longer and so forth. A full dwarven work chant might last for hours and we are not even talking about the stamina involved in intimate relations which lasts through the night into the hours of the morning... and no they don't get sleepy afterwards! Plus, shouldn't all women have beards?

For more information, you can attend Jubilost Narthropple's latest seminar entitled "Dwarves: from Darkness to Enlightenment" in Pitax. Please enlighten yourself.

Is this something that Jubilost wrote about dwarves, or are you just some kind of lunatic who wrote this off the top of your head based your own real-life research into the dwarven race, which is a fantastical race that you have convinced yourself is real? :P

I have no issues with Jubi. There's a lot more to him than his arrogant exterior would suggest. He rather grew on me in the game, and he has a heck of a throwing arm. I just was extra impressed with some of the companions in WotR.

And then there is Camelia. The companion who I love to hate! I was really messed up about her in my first playthrough. It still hurts a little.

I'm at a lost for words. Aivu is literally the best thing to have happened to a crpg. She hands down beats any Kingmaker companion in terms of quality. Even if she was the only companion in Wrath, Wrath would still have better companion(s) when compared to Kingmaker. I don't know what else to tell you.

Nenio spoiler act 4 has one of the best character moments out of any pathfinder game. This is when she literally licks someone's decomposing eyeball. .

Wenduag spoiler ending Probably has one of the best ending slides out of any companionwhich is in the form of sky pirate's.
