Hi everyone!

I just got a strange message since ACT 4 when I'm trying to use Smite Evil or my Divine Weapon with my Paladin saying "Specific alignment required"... Wtf ? I mean my paladin is neutral good and I didn't have this issue before ? What am I missing ? Does my paladin has to be Loyal good instead ?

This paladin is my main character by the way.

Yep. Paladins have to be lawful good, or they lose the blessing of their deity and are no longer paladins.

As said (even in the Paladin description), stay lawful good or fall.

Buy a scroll of atonement somewhere.

not in this game it's using old school rules but frankly I think that's stupid in this case.

I think its actually pretty cool, cause you have to act like a paladin to remain a paladin. That said, fallen paladins can be cool too. (Dorn Il-Khan Im looking at you)

I'm fine with them being limited to an alignment but I think it would be more interesting if it wasn't only lawful good but whatever alignment suits the deity if the deity even cares.

They should have picked up the old D&D Blackguard for an evil Paladin alternative

In D&D 5e paladins have sort of been redefined as following a particular oath but otherwise being any alignment, which I like better. Pathfinder uses the old, purely lawful good paladins. I'm a little surprised of the many things Pathfinder borrowed it didn't borrow the new paladins, since Pathfinder in general seems to favor giving as many options as possible.

Pathfinder 1e has the anti-paladin class (which is the chaotic evil version of the paladin, and resembles the blackguard in D&D). I don't know why they didn't include it in this game, since there is a chaotic evil path that would go well with it, they already added the hellknight (and cut a of its content to implement it ingame, they even added assassin which is near useless in this campaign becasue of the poison immunities, the anti-paladin wouldn't have been worse than those).

Speaking of the hellknight prestige class, it's kind of the lawful-any version of the paladin (even if they are usually lawful evil or lawful neutral rather than good).

The pnp version also has the vindictive bastard which is a class that can replace the paladin class if you are fallen (the smite, auras and spells are replaced with other abilites).

The pathfinder 2E does it better IMO, since you have the champion class that is basically a super class that changes depending on your starting alignement (lawful good champs are paladins, lawful evil champs are tyrants, CE are anti-paladin, NG are redeemers etc.). The powers you get depends on the spec also (like the paladin get the smite but the tyrant, antipaladin etc. get each something else, same with auras, good champs have different auras than evil champs, the divine boon is also different, evil champs get a fiend horse).
