I was not expecting Helms Deep at like level 3, the characters that sit there should not be in the turn order until maybe the big guy shows or something gets close, and that should have been a level of xp sorry long grueling unexpected (ish) fight of epic proportions..

not sure how its triggered but happened bloody early for me, still one but its a bit rough if your not ready for it.

Pretty nice fight, where the enemies with long reach weapons just stab the crusaders at the tavern entrance and they do not move a single step forward to kill them, that's the job of the archers.

Message for you to get to defence of tavern triggers after 3 days.

Respecing takes like 1 day. You can choose for resting to take 3 days at once, it might also set it to 3 days when rest time is set to automatic.

by doing the xp share "exploit" or rather in my view balance it out.... see the game normally distributes xp across 6 party members worth as a flat rate regardless if you have actually 6 party members or not.... all I do is turn on xp share with active members only at start of game and when I pick up new companions I disable it temporarily at the point where it says "end dialogue" to get them to match my level... then reenable it again right afterwards so that xp is distributed based on my actual party size... also I keep do quests and such in an order that keeps my active party numbers down for more xp... how much it matters is a lot... by time I reach Lann and Wenduag im level 2 after they ask for help for sword conversation... I hit level 3 in the maze less than halfway about.... after prologue I hit level 4 after a few kills or so... first visit to market square I hit level 5.... finishing blackwing library and coming back im at level 6.... and by end of chapter 1 when im in chapter 2 im like a few xp away from hitting level 7 enough to hit it when talking around before even leaving....

of course once you have a party of 6 you no longer need to do the switch anymore and just turn share xp with active party members only to off...

if you want more specifics on how I can give you more info if you want of my "route"... I have OCD so rerolling so much ive seen Act 1 too many times... lol... still havent even finished the game cause i'd reroll over small things and over patches that changes my build...

Even though I play in turn based, the Inn fight is the one time I swap to Real time. Its much more enjoyable with that many people in the fight.

The best part of the game putting archers in high places, holding positions behind the friends and putting a Entangling + Grease everywhere carnage begins

I usually like having Nenio throw pits at each gate. Just so fun when they all fall in.

But last time I went with the new Burning Entangle spell. Barely needed the archer part.

i did the inn fight in turn based, and i wonder if it would have been better in real time. i was confused about the enemies spawning in at the broken gate, it seems like they are infinite spawns, like the battle never ends until you kill specific targets.
i had all my guys clustered at the gate and literally , every time i killed an enemy, another one popped in to take its place. Iit felt like i must have killed like 100 enemies. . eventually the minotaur appeared and disengaged everyone when the minotaur popped out the opposite side.
ember got lucky and procked slimber on the minotaur.

If i am correct the Bombers are the trigger of the quest you have to go specially after them otherwise the next wave wont trigger....

I was playing in real-time up to that point, but grease and pit were bugged and didn't do anything to units that walked through them. They were only bugged in RTwP, they worked fine in turn-based. In turn-based, the fight ended up lasting 5 hours (not an exaggeration), 39 rounds. Although it would have gone a lot faster if I'd had an archer or a full party (I refused both Wenduag and Lann).

After it was all finally over, my reward was a small amount of experience and a handful of gold, I didn't even get to loot the enemies. That got a laugh out of me.

What made you do it?

Archers are among the most useful fighters at all stages of the game. In my opinion, Wendu in particular is indispensable as a damage dealer. (Only Ember is even more effective.)

In fact, I have both of them (Lann & Wendu) in the base formation in my current run. (Not yet in the Inn fight, of course, but from act 3.) In a combo, these two pretty much smash everything. :)

umm.... im usually level 6 by the time I do the Inn defense....

I do the whole thing turn based... just cause I like having the micro to make it more effecient.... which with my 3 selective greases casted right before starting event in key locations... it pretty much allows me total control of battlefield.... and the ability to keep my units grouped up and the ability to regroup to rebuff haste... so I can provide haste the whole fight with extend rod...
