Hi, I had this game on my wish-list, but was given a steam warning that it was blocked for me due to my preferences. The reason given was nudity.

This surprised me as I haven't read anything about this previous, and am wondering if this is a error with the steam filter, as the only references for mature rating in the description is gore, violence, hostage situations and terrorism. So I just have a few questions regarding the content of the game to get clarification - as this was one I have been looking forward to since 2005! (Since Swat 4)

1) Can I please get info on the amount and type/level of nudity that has caused this to be blocked on steam (if any)?

2) Likewise, can I please get some feedback regarding the game (non players) level of profanity (including cussing) in this game, whether it is rare, or constant yelling of swearing?

3) Whether either the nudity (if there is any) is isolated to a mission/level that can be skipped and/or whether the nudity and/or profanity can be turned off or otherwise skipped please?

Please note - I am seeking factual information only - and kindly request for opinions as what is or isn't acceptable to be withheld so this thread doesn't degrade into arguments over opinions - as each persons opinions on what is acceptable will most likely vary and won't be helpful to myself or anyone else seeking clarification on the seam filter. :-)

Thanks guys. I'd be happy to get it if there's confirmation that we can skip certain missions and still 'proceed' to the others. I guess we won't know that though until it's out of early access, or the dev's come in and officially say something.

imho, if you need to ask those question then just do not buy the game, at least do not buy it now. We do not know 100% what the devs will do in the future. Sure we have some info from them what they plan to do but if they really will follow that plan is the question.

Thanks MJ. That's very sound advise and makes sense, and I'm probably about to make a foolish decision by not following it. :-) Just that I've waited 15 years though for a SWAT4 sequel, and it seems as though this is the first game that's come along during that time that qualifies.

From what I can tell so far, language is down to a minimum - and the developers have focused on other areas to get players more immersed in the gameplay instead of taking the cheap/easy alternative of just bombarding with audio of profanity to create 'atmosphere'.

Additionally - from what I've been told over the past 24hrs, it would seem that the developers have given us control over which levels we wish to play in co-op and which ones we wish to skip which is wonderful.

As such - I'm very tempted to buy this now, and enjoy it for what it is, plus it will help support the developers - which so far have been the only ones willing in 15 years to take on a game like this.

It's still a bit of a risk making the decision to buy it now, but considering I'll primarily be a co-op player, plus the responses so far - it seems as though it will be worth it in my instance.

If nudity makes you that repulsed, just you wait, they apperantly are making a school map, so we will apperantly have school shooting mission.

To just add onto what MJ711 said in a previous post. If you draw the line at Nudity/Profanity, It might be in your best interest to not purchase the game.

The things they have planned in the past makes it seem like they want to keep the game pretty grim/dark and grounded. (IIRC, They had a gore system planned, but that might've changed as well. If this has changed can someone let me know? thanks.).

The better option though would to just wait it out and see what the game is like after a few more content updates to see if it becomes more accessible for you.

I'm not 100% sure, but the gore system is still planned, just wasn't good enough to make it into the game yet.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I appreciate the warning regarding gore - but for the sake of this thread I'm not too worried about the gore. My main questions were focused on profanity, and nudity - and I think we've got that covered - excuse the pun ;-) for now.

There are levels featuring human trafficking, as such there's a bit of nudity and implication of forced prostitution but at the level of development that the game's at I've yet to see somebody naked on it, and it's just one level at the moment that features those npcs. The question about profanity is a bit more subjective I believe, given that I feel like the profanity in it is just right but then again I'm used to it in games. I've yet to hear a police officer swear, though. Hope that helps. Game is awesome, if you ever played (and enjoyed) SWAT 4 you'll like this as well. But I have to admit it's way more grim and "up to date" than SWAT 4, obviously.

Thanks @sgt Breakneck. When you say a bit of nudity - I'm assuming if you haven't seen it yet - that we're only talking 'referenced', and not actually seeing full frontal, or topless images etc? I'm not so much interested in implications or references - but what is physically going to be on the screen and/or come out of the PC speakers, and whether it's possible to avoid or bypass those missions.

As for profanity - it's probably a big ask as like you mention - it's subjective. I've just been in some games where they try to fill the atmosphere with constant swearing, so I'm probably more after an idea of how frequent it is and the content, whether it's more restricted to the occasional H*ll, S*** or F***, or constant bombardments of the former plus content such as C***, J**** C*****, etc as well.

I'm aware some games allow turning off of profanity and nudity as well. Would you be able to advise please if this game contains those options?

In terms of nudity, the only nude npc I've seen was the lady who is held within a shipping container. Which is implied human trafficking, but in terms of profanity yeah its there but not too frequent. Ive only heard suspects drop the F bomb and thats it. To my knowledge that is the only extent of swearing I've seen. To answer your last question if there is a filter to turn those things on and off, that's a no.

I've not seen the nude woman in question myself, but judging by what devs have said about this game previously, they intend to make this game fully grounded in reality so all sorts of nasty crimes that happen in real life, you can expect to see depiction of such with nothing being held back.

It's a gritty and dark setting, so keep that in mind since there will still be future maps that could contain such content if you don't want to see that.

As for mission order, right now you pick from a list of available maps and then pick a game mode in any order you like. In the future, there will be a campaign mode once the game fully releases. I'd assume in campaign, you have to go through missions in order since there's supposed to be a story to go with it.

The nudity specifically refers to the mission and scene where your team enter a brothel and rescue civilians from a human trafficking ring.
