Careful as this game runs horribly even on strong rigs. The optimization is not good apparently. Try it out and see how it runs, you can return it if play time is under 2 hours.

Also, not sure if you have xbox game pass or not, but this game is included with xbox game pass at the moment if you have that.

I have yet to play 4 because it runs horribly but every serious sam game has been solid so far.

idk if my rig is better or what but it's been fine for me. game still looks good on high settings with low on cpu w/ vulkan rendering. on a rtx 3060 btw.

second encounter hd is probably your best starting point gameplaywise, but 4 isn't bad either if you can get behind things like sprint and reloads. only thing that blows about 4 imo aside from performance is the empty level design

If you don’t get hung up on performance issues and can enjoy the game for what it is it will be worth it. I think 4 is their best work and also first and second encounter are great as well . If you don’t need high definition to enjoy a game I would save your money and skip the HD and just get the base game at $4.99 I think it is.

Also I am enjoying Siberian Mayhem as well .

ss4 totally trash
its absolutely terrible
I say this as a person who gladly replayed the first parts of the game several times.
In this part, the developers ruined everything, locations, stupid jokes, a bunch of partners who run around with you the whole game, cheap secrets that you don’t even want to waste time on, imbalance of opponents who jump out at you at the same time. I don’t know what audience the developers were counting on, but this is not the same Sam that we knew.

I'd skip it & see what they do with 5, SS4 is really bad, unoptimized & just lacking in everything serious sam.

The loading times are indeed horrendous, but it's especially on the first load after game start. Otherwise it runs fine on my old mid range gaming laptop, but I realize this is entirely individual and down to luck which hardware you have.

You should start from the beginning to be honest. All Serious Sam games are incredible

It's not unfortunately, the game was not optimised at all as some npc's & props like trees have over 100k polygons, the Nymph which come in over 50 at a time have over 80k which makes the game lag no matter what you're running, that & the terrible level design.

Rate Serious Sam 4
