Had another look to see if the game has been optimized since release.
Its still the only game from my library that runs like ♥♥♥♥.

A serious sam game that loses frames as soon as more than 3 enemies are on screen.
What a failure.

See you all in 12 months. Maybe modders have fixed the game by then.

I by no means had an elite PC when it was released or now and the game ran and runs fine. You know better than to complain about performance and not include the complete specs of your rig. I'm suspecting this is a PEBCAK error.

What are your specs? I've got a i5 3470, 16GB, W10, GTX 1070. I had to turn down a couple of settings and run at 900p. It's extremely playable with only stuttering during loading times or cut scenes. Combat has been perfectly smooth.

this game runs smooth vsync on 60 fps med preset 1080p with my i5 9400f with gtx 1650 super.

Woah woah woah... you had to lower the resolution to get this thing working? Holy crap, that's something I haven't done in 15 years. This game is seriously poorly optimised.

I got a 3800x, 2080 XC Ultra, and 32gb 3200mhz ram and can confirm this game is absolutely ass in the optimization department... The devs should really prioritize fixing that because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. My frames are in the 83-1120fps range but will dip to like 20-30 which is annoying when in a fire fight, Not to mention I'm also on 1080p.

Yeah, this is why I refunded and left a bad review months ago. This game will be $5 in like 3 months. And honestly will probably still suck. Croteam has to be the most clueless dev team ever.

weird, i dont know the specific specs but i know my pc is kinda ♥♥♥♥ since i lag with a LOT of games, and this one is actually one of the games that runs perfectly

That sounds pretty accurate for the 1070 trends. There were quite a few games in 2018 that I had to lower the settings to get 60 FPS.

I have a pretty powerful rig - 3900X @4.35GHz all cores, 16GB 3600MHz RAM, RX 6900 XT - and the game didn't run well at all. Sure it was playable, but framerate constantly dived to 60fps, which should be okay but it stuttered. I didn't quite know whether to set res at 1080P or 1440P (pretty close performance-wise) but decided both weren't quite right as Sam image in the option panel looked jagged (like it was rendered at wrong res).

Finally, yesterday, I chose an option (#3 if it means anything at all) which did not have anything/res attached to it (it was simply blank). Now, the game looks perfect, no more jaggies in the option window, and the game runs at a nice 80+ to 100+fps at 3840x1080 (yeah, I know, weird res). As to why it ran and looked like crap at selected 1080P/1440P, I have no idea at all.

Tried that setting and it works a lot better.

Came back here after a few months and the game's performance is still bad? I've deleted the game last year. I'll give it another shot and follow what i read here (choosing the #3 option) to see if i can get a better performance.

What's the third option anyway?
