Croteam Disappoints
So instead of maybe fixing and patching the still horribly optimized Serious Sam 4 and/or maybe, finally, update Fusion and pull it out of beta, Croteam decides they're making another Serious Sam instead? I grew up a huge Sam fan when no one else I knew heard of this game, supported Croteam for a very long time, but ever since the making of and releasing of Sam 4, the company from my point of view seems like they really only care about the money they make now. The little I see them actually interact with there community is through the little 7Smoke group, who are a lot more toxic of a community then they like to show on the surface, coming from someone who used to be apart of it. They have a member who literally thinks Covid started 9-11. And Croteam seems to barely communicate with them as it is, only once in a while when it looks good PR wise. Hopefully they have a change of culture at some point, but I doubt it.

A small overly vocal minority of people doesn't mean a game has major issues for the rest of the players. Most issues with any game are PEBCAK. I've noticed over the years, way back on the good old forums that the most issues come from people that refused to supply their specs when they have an issue just so they can blame the developer. or Steam.
If you want to communicate with Croteam then you do so on their discord server not here on Steam. They are not obligated to talk to us here in a Steam user forum. Communicate with them directly on their forums and report your bugs there. Except for a few bugs that were quickly fixed and needing to patch the DX12 and Vulcan the following week the game released it has run great. PCs have millions of hardware and software combinations and no game is goign to run properly on 100% of them. I you want a "guarantee" a game will run then stick to gaming on a console where they only have to program for one set of hardware and software.
I'm totally fine with a new SS game. Even though I have enjoyed 3 & 4 I would love them to return to a style more like SSFE and SSSE. I prefer a little more fantasy to reality in my SS games. Makes it easier to find things. In fact I'm surprise no one has modded SS3/4 on SSHD like someone did that awful DNF as a DOOm 2 mod. DNF is actually fun as a doom2 mod.

Although I expect "a new game" means a standalone expansion.
I cant stand when good developers spend 10 years on a single game. Its such an enormous waste. We are starved of good games. More please.

TheHandofChuck21 replied to Croteam Disappoints January 7, 2022 @ 11:41:25 am PSTI am far from the only person with performance issues with this game, and since I am using a Zephyrus ROG laptop with a RTX 2060, I definitely know that its not because my specs arent up to snuff. Your argument also works against you, as just cause YOU have good performance, doesn't negate that a lot of other people with very capable rigs have bad performance when they shouldnt. I'd also like to point out, that quite a few reviews have shown that performance on consoles is inconsistent at best. Croteam also doesnt like to communicate with there community on discord unless they are apart of that toxic little 7Smoke community they have goin over there. They are not the most consumer friendly developer as they used to be. I mean they are working on Talos Principle 2 and also on a SS4 DLC so imo getting a new Sam Game announcement is unlikely

But if it was phrased wrong, was it on purpose ? Croteam reposted/shared that on Facebook as well

That's the issue, issue a final update, remove the beta tag and move on. Too much is left unfinished these days and users are left with unfinished product. Its unacceptable. Fusion was so hyped, including a Serious Sam 2 remake, all to be abandoned. We instead we got Serious Sam 4 which was a total let down. Once again over hyped and all it is is a generic shooter with nothing much else.
