I could not find any video where someone uses a "valid" strategy for this part that does not involve some cheese (for example standing in a corner with the chainsaw killing all the annoying spiders in the first wave) or use of skills/gadgets or even the chaingun that you theoretically should not have at the moment.

I found a strategy, but it doesn't seem like the one intended by the developers, which is to get into one of the mouths of those drain lines and use C4 as much as possible to kill most of the enemies while you are protected from the mancubus clones. Because it seems a bit cheesy to me, I preferred not to use it and try to play in a more correct way.

The only way I can get past this part without dying is by running in circles around the perimeter of the arena killing the mancubus as fast as possible, while eventually leaving C4 on the ground to kill some of the spiders chasing me. The problem is that the amount of spiders and mancubus is so large that it is almost impossible to avoid damage, which makes this strategy require a good amount of luck (I at least only succeeded in 1 of about 10 attempts).

Does anyone who has played no deaths, no gadgets, no S.A.M. on Serious difficulty know any smarter strategies that don't require so much luck?

EDIT: Oh, and I am also trying to avoid using the chainsaw as much as possible because to my mind that weapon is more of a "gimmick" that serves to keep you from having to engage in gameplay, something that the developers apparently liked to do when they created SS4.

Thanks, but the part I am referring to is a secondary objective (it is the first secondary objective of the level "viva la resistance")
