Building and traversal...

So the modular, subnautica style of building is fun and all. However, I feel like the game is missing a bit. I 'd love to see more shapes, more hallway options, viewing domes, just more overall to make base building more fun.

Now, I think most can relate to traversing the map becoming a bit of a slog, especially with your only fast travel being the teleporter, which is unlocked pretty far down the line... I propose a small buggy or rover style vehicle, maybe you find the parts to it amongst the various wrecks, or craft it yourself. Just something to make the mid game less boring, as after you've hit the highest jetpack upgrade there's nothing up until the teleporter. It feels like there should be something leading p to the end game level teleporter.

Just some thoughts, excited to see how the game develops!

I honestly don't believe there is a use for a wheeled vehicle in the game. When you have the top tier boots and jetpack It takes no more than a minute to go from Central Lake to the SuperAlloy Cave, about the same to go to the Uranium Mine near the Stargate, about the same to get to the Sandfalls. about the same to reach the Dark Biome entrance to the Mushroom Forest, via the Spires cave and about the same to travel to The Crater via the Cliffside Wreck cave entrance. ( i have actually timed these with a stopclock so I'm not exaggerating the time)
You don't even need the top tier either, just the first level jetpack by itself is still going to be faster than a wheeled vehicle.
With a wheeled vehicle, you have an enormous amount of terrain to traverse which would take an enormous amount of time... and it would be nearly impossible to reach certain areas because of the terrain. Not to mention trying to get through all your forests of trees you have planted all over the place. As a last point. think about this, who would take the least time to get from the Central Plain to the cliffside wreck on the far end of the lake ??? you in your buggy who has to navigate your way around the steep edges of the lake ?? or me jetting over top of the water in a straight line ? :)

I'm with Azriall on this. The terrain is not wheel-friendly or track-friendly. I constantly cut across lakes and rivers using foot or jetpack. A vehicle isn't as nimble as a person and can't get through small gaps. It takes time to get into and out of a vehicle and, at least half the time, it's facing the wrong way. If you leave your vehicle behind you have to go and get it. You might even lose it.

Also, I'm happy with there being no vehicle blueprints. It makes sense to me. Vehicles are for cities which come later.

Agree. Early game, traversing the map is sooo slow. But with the fully upgraded jet pack, the map will feel small given how fast you can travel.

Practicality was half my point, I also just think its nice to have different options for fun sake. In satisfactory for example, it is often more efficient to use the air tubes (idr the name), but the small buggy like cart is just so fun to mess around with. Sandbox games thrive from variety imo :p

I use the Jetpack to fly through the air. It doesn't take more than 2-3 minutes to reach my base from any place basically. Or does the map become even larger later? I have currently found the Moon-like place with the pink crystals, as well as the underground forest with purple trees, the sandstormy red valley (where there is iridium rods at the center and 2 abandoned hatches), the shiny bright crystals cave, the other sandstorm valley etc. I feel like I've seen all the map now?

Honestly I'd like the option to have some kind of rail system to deliver me from one place to another. I am well aware of the jetpack and teleporters, but if the devs plan on expanding the map I'd like to have the option to have one.

Yessss, more variety, more fun! I want to have options to break up the monotony

Sandstormy, red valley with Iridium Rods?
Did you happen to find the Meteor Crater?

It's my favorite place, really. The mist clears at around 2GTi.

Yes, that would be it! But I hardly see anything lol... I'm progressing from Lakes > Moss currently...

I do indeed find traveling to be a little bit tedious before I get teleporters. But it's true, some of the terrain could be a little rough for a buggy. So I propose: Catapults. Turn them in the direction you want to travel. Choose an angle. Fire it up, jump in, and get launched directly towards where you want to go. Only recommended once you have a jetpack since otherwise you'll probably go splat.

You might want to take a look at the bottom of it...
Visibility sucks until you get to about 2GTi, though.

When asking for more, more, more it's important to keep in mind that the game costs $20.

Gotta keep expectations in line with what you're paying.

Personally I'd rather the developers maintained their focus on terraforming instead of base-building options (especially since it's a single-player game, so big fancy bases only matter for screenshots and videos).

I do see one good use for a ground vehicle - cargo. There are many times during mid-game where I've had to make multiple trips back to a distant area to pick up more of what I found, and it would be nice to load it all into a truck and haul it home.

Otherwise I don't see it being used except for fun, and it would have to be earlier in the game because the most basic jetpack would render it obsolete (except for the option to haul mass quantities of goods).

It might be nice to see teleporters themselves broken down into a series of items, so you work your way up to it instead of suddenly having it drop into your lap. For instance T1 Teleporters might be... risky... to use, have a limited range, and maybe need an additional fuel that has to be loaded. T2 would have more range and be easier to use, and also eliminate the whole "random chance of telefrag". Then the current one could be the T3.

It might just be the Starsiege Tribes player in me, but I'd really love to see the jetpack have some different mechanics to it to make it feel different than a neutered noclip.
