Any recommendations for similar games?
Really been enjoying this game, the peaceful nature of it has had me close to completion in a couple of weeks. It's definitely well worth the price. Unfortunately this means I need something new soon and wondered if there were any recommendations.
I'll preface this with, I already own Subnautica (love the concept but I hate underwater (phobia)). Raft, no man's sky, satisfactory, Factorio....
Been looking at scrap mechanic and vulconoid but not sure yet. If anyone has some new suggestions that would be great!
Playing mainly on steam deck so ya... I know it's not super powerful but it's how I enjoy playing now for my lifestyle, but I don't mind lowering graphics to make it work.

starlight78sso replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 2, 2023 @ 7:57:42 pm PDTIf you like the survival stuff, you may want to try Green Hell. I've been playing for a couple months and love it. It has a pretty interesting story to it, and it also has the crafting and base building aspects to it as well.
P.S. I have the same issue with Subnautica, I would be fine if it wasnt so dark.

You might try JUNKPUNK. And if you like the 'cleaning' mechanic of that one, try No Place Like Home. They're not as good, but what is ?

Permutation replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 2, 2023 @ 9:55:50 pm PDTYa, I'll admit I've never really been into combat oriented games except if you consider civilization but ya, I just want to build and be peaceful.
Planet crafters really scratched that iche for a survival type game without the constant jump scares of something behind me or stress of everything falling apart. I get my playstyle is niche so I'm not expecting much. I'm just not that hardcore.
I wish no man sky made me feel like I was accomplishing something but there's something about the story that makes everything feel so futile to me. I think Valheim was the last game that really captured my desire for creativity but I never got that far because I didn't want to fight bosses.
Junkpunk does look interesting though!

starlight78sso replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 2, 2023 @ 10:08:57 pm PDTOh one you may want to look at if you want something that has a creative aspect to it, Hokko Life, it has the crafting, and farming aspects, and the crafting is pretty cool because you can design your own stuff, using different materials and designs to make what ever you want. It's another one I really like.

Kat Ballou replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 2, 2023 @ 11:39:31 pm PDTHas anyone played Beyond Contact? The videos I saw about it looked similar to Planet Crafter (at least as far as crashing on a dying planet, having to gather resources to craft equipment, etc) but I haven't bought or played the game so I can only got by the few vids I watched on youtube.

starlight78sso replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 2, 2023 @ 11:44:38 pm PDTI have, they recently made some big changes, I only played a couple hours since then. It is kinda like it, but you do have enemies to contend with. And weather.

Kyrros replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 3, 2023 @ 12:41:22 am PDTI feel like Astroneer has a bit more feel like this game than Subnautica does.
Game play is similar, mostly peaceful. Health/Power/O2 survival mechanic. Mining to find specific resources. Resources unlock better tech, which allows you to find better resources, etc. Lethal hazards exist, but they're environmental/stationary and easy to navigate around so long as you keep up your awareness. On the off chance you do run out of O2 or are fatally harmed by falls/hazards, then you respawn at your 'start' pod.

Azriall replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 3, 2023 @ 12:44:27 am PDTThe Infected - survival, base building, wild animals to hunt, townships to explore for resources and loot, vehicles to get around in. Devs just dropped a massive new update, totally reworked map and lots of new features. Turn off enemy interaction for a completely chill game. recommended.

trygve replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 3, 2023 @ 4:48:54 am PDTRemains.
you start out hovering in space after the spcecraft you belong on just... exploded. In fact, there's not a single whole ship in orbit. Just you, a whole heap of drifting wreckage and the computer core of your old ship.
Collect food and air and all kinds of wrecckage that comes drifting by, and not only attempt to stay alive, but build a makeshift spacecraft and maybe even figure out what happened.
Tried it. Went splat against all kinds of stuff... I don't have the fine touch needed for that game.

Old Mc D replied to Any recommendations for similar games? May 3, 2023 @ 5:43:28 am PDTRecommend? As far as i know, the first person-build-goal concept of TPC is pretty much alone out there. Satisfactory could be described as similar but the build concept is totally diffrent there.
Dyson Sphere: diffrence to TPC: its more like factoriofeeling - you kinda build from above. Same "endless" base concept of building stuff until i dont know :D. There is a main goal to achive but aside from that no mission/story as far as i know.
Astro colony: pretty much like satisfactory, just space/asteroids
You mentioned scrap mechanics and vulcanoid:
If you want it peacfull, than no, not at all for you, both.
SC: Best described as, sandbox-do whatever you want-without any big goals. There is really not much to do if you are not creative and like to try things out, yes you can build a lot but its a lot of timeconsuming to get the resources in survival mode. creative mode gets boring fast. Fighting is like in minecraft, mobs have fixed spawns but if ya wanna farm your crops it gets wild to say at least. :D Only recommended if you have fun building stuff without a blueprint but with your creative brainpart. Better with friends.
V: If ya leave the spawnarea its 24/7 fighting-mostly your ship- with one exception: you stay underground, but than its kinda meh. For some upgrades you have to fight anyways. the 25 minute vulcano eruptions can be a pain in the ass or completly wipe you and your ship if ya miss to go underground in time. Best pro: its 4-coop. But i wouldnt buy it again for solo play.
