Lost all items (full t3 inv) in standard, no chest left behind.

So yep, gonna delete that save and just start over on relaxing.

I haven't died yet. I don't particularly want to, but i'm curious as to what happens. You just wake up at your base? I did cheat a lil once. Turns out, if you save and exit, when you load the game you have full food and thirst and a small chunk of oxygen regardless of what you had when you log out.

If you die you just respawn in your base. Dunno yet how it determines which one is your base. Maybe the first one you built.
But yeah on standard you drop all items or some items as a chest. Well should anyway, that was the first time a chest wasn't left behind at my death location, I had just made a big haul from one place, but miscalculated oxygen. So halfway back died and respawned with an empty inv, but where I died was no chest, on standard. So just deleted that save, because of wasted precious resources like microchips (even though they prolly are just consumables, maybe you unlock the suit upgrades in a set order).
On Relaxed mode, you can use that as a way of teleportation to your base, as all the items are still on you.

I have like 10 chips atm. No use for them. Also, the only resource that seems limited is zeolite. You gain ways to gather and endless supply of everything else in due time. Even zeolite seems to respawn, though extremely rarely and randomly. I've had 2 nodes respawn that I noticed.

When you die you respawn in the last habitat that you were in.
You respawn with 50% health, water, and oxygen.

Anything you were carrying gets dropped where you died, in a chest, which despawns as soon as you empty it.

If you're moving when you die (especially if you're using the jetpack and are up high) the chest appears to get 'thrown' and will not be where you actually died, but some distance away.... I've yet to not have it spawn.

If you're waiting for stuff, just empty your inventory, sit in your base, and go afk... you'll just keep respawning on the spot and be able to make progress while away, just be sure to not have power saving enabled as the game will crash if your screen turns off or your system goes in to standby/hibernate etc...

All of this of course depends on your difficult level... On hardcore, death means that your save is deleted and you have to start over...

you respawn in the last habitat you were in and a few items on you drop into a chest you can collect by going back and pick it up

Ive died twice in the last 2 days since finishing the Demo and buying the full games. Both times I lost half my inventory, usually the most valuable items, and no chest was to be found. The first time I was running, the second time I tried standing still. No chest anywhere. It's really frustrating, because I lost Uranium rods and Blueprint Chips.

I play survival games always on hardcore/ironman if possible so dead is dead. I died on my first run after 8 hours because I reached the liquid water stage and didn't know that it will make all ice resources disappear. I only noticed it when I had no water left and desperately ran around looking for ice until I died of thirst. Should have built those damn rain collectors. But I always thought "What for? There is ice everywhere". I should have really anticipated that. Well I'm back now where I was after only around 4 hours or so.

If the ground is not level where you die, the death chest spawns underneath the ground and is lost with all its contents. If you know you're going to die, try to run where the ground is level.

That's prolly what happened, as I was just walking.
