Like the title states, this game for what ever reason makes my eyes hurt after long play sessions.. No idea why but I have played all manner of games on many different platforms since the mid 80's. I still have long gaming sessions on many popular title that some of you are sure to own. This is the only game that does this to me. Anyone else experience the same? I don't have any issues with eye sight and I don't wear glasses. I don't need to, I have fantastic eye sight.

bright colors maybe?

Maybe it is brightness. But the game gets very dark too.. But I feel like the game is trying to have some over the top fake HDR effect during the day. I'm playing at 1440p at 170 fps - 90 fps. Drops when it rains pretty bad but this is because of optimization..

If you've been gaming since the 80's, you're eye's ain't what they used to be. Turn down the brightness of your monitor. Don't play in a dark room.

Yea I covered all that in my first post. Because I knew that people like you would bring this up. It's like you seen the part about the mid 80's and the rest of my post got lost to you. And it's BS. I have played hundreds titles for long hours and NO, OTHER, GAME, CAUSES, MY EYES, TO HURT. I also play competitive first person shooters. Fast paced with VFX all over the screen on Ultra settings with a RTX 3060 Ti and an i7 11th gen, for hours on end. Explosions and flashing.. I'm in the top 3% in the world on Battlefield tracker from my account on Origin. I get hackusations constantly when I play COD. I play racing games, fighting games, survival games and MMOs.. An my doctor says my eyes are excellent. So this old man argument is going to cut it. And this old man goes to the gym 3 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time and I lift heavy.. I take care of myself. There is nothing old about this "old man".. In fact people think I'm in my 30s.. And I'm 45, not 55.. I'm not bashing you. I know it's the game itself. My wife even noticed my eyes were red. It's abnormal for any game to do that to me. I think the game is too bright during the day. There is no setting to turn it down so I cant really tell and if I turn my calibrated monitor down then nights and caves are too dark. I feel like white level is too high.

It's the dust clouds that come, it messes with your colors and can hurt your eyes just by you having an experience irl where dust got into your eyes. It might actually be your brain thinking of how much it hurt and it's telling you to close your eyes by making them red. So your best bet is get somewhere safe in game close your eyes for a minute and the feeling should go away. Also you can turn the gamma up on your monitor while playing it so the game isn't so light and dark all the time.

Nah it's just overall brightness.. I turned it down about 15 levels on my monitor. Seems to give my eyes a break. But in game the brightness isn't consistent. Even standing inside on different tiles the brightness changes from one tile to the next inside a complex base. The level is up and down.

If you don't look away from time to time, as in looking at another wall for a bit and blinking more, I use eye drops as my old eyes need more moisture. I have the blue tint on my lenses and this helps me as well. When playing games we tend to stare too long without blinking and this will cause our eyes to dry and cause problems seeing clearly.

Umm, that's your problem, not mine. The problem was the game not my eyes.. I can play any other title you name for 8 hours straight and not have any issues with my eye sight. And usually I only play for 4 hours or so. I turned the brightness waaaaay down. My eyes are fine now. The game was too bright some time ago according to a youtuber. After a fix, it seems it's still a bit too bright.

She was trying to relate. It's called empathy. Not every game community is a competitive fps after all. Not trying to pick a fight either, just pointing out the fact that you're being a tad rude.

Also an 80s gamer. Granted late 80s. Also with perfectly fine vision and a few accolades of my own over the years. But this game doesn't mess with my eyes any. Yet you don't see me saying nonsense like "that's your problem, not mine." Just chill my dude. The entire internet isn't made out of millennials and zoomers.

And i'm saying there's no relation. I specifically stated that it's the game not my eyes. I say how old I am and people immediately jump to the conclusion that it's my age and eye sight even when I give proof that it's not my eyes.. Apparently, I'm old, have bad eyes, I need glasses, and I should stare at walls according to the people in this post.. Now who's being rude? But it's not too bright for you.. People have different set ups on a PC. You haven't figured that out yet? Besides, there was an issue with the game being too bright a year ago. Seems it's still too bright. Turning the brightness of my monitor down by 15 levels seems to give my eyes a break. Whites were blinding.. I'm not messing with any other monitor setting because I have it calibrated the way I want. And I don't want to have to change it back every time I do something else. The game needs a brightness and gamma setting in the menus. But the game is fantastic as far as gameplay..

Every one on steam forums acts like an IT Guru alsobut their advice boils down to reinstalling drivers and turning it on and off again, and then saying your CPU is too slow, regardless of what type it is. Ask a question, provide evidence, evidence ignored, pointless answers. Cess pool.

I have noted Planet crafter has some very weird visual effects. It is the only Unity engine game that through insanity or design looks and feels almost exactly like unreal engine 4. They've done something crazy with the colors and the night/weather effects exxagerate this

If you happen to have an Nvdia card, the only thing i can suggest is running planet crafter in window, opening Nvdia control panel, and adjusting the brightness contrast gamma, digital vibrance and hue on the fly while in game, this way you can reduce the intensity but also tweak it so its not too dark. Take care.

Yea. That's a good idea. Finally a voice of reason. I was thinking about using Geforce experience to tweak it. But the game is not supported so I can't use the filter. I tried it. But I can mess around in the control panel. Thanks.

I want to say I'm a young person and this is that one game that really gives me eyestrain too. I am used to playing games for 8-10hrs at a go but this one really hurts my eyes after only 3 hours. I think the dark areas are too dark and the overall brightness is too bright. Staying indoors (in-game I mean) also hurts my eyes for some reason. I'll try the nvdia tweaking.

i've started using blue blocker glasses when gaming to reduce some of the strain/headaches
