Three Big Biomass Bottlenecks (Spoilers)
I recently bought and played this game through to the biomass stages and encountered three bottnecks that I had to AFK for. Heres my feedback on them.
The Eggplant Bottleneck
This first one is amusing but was a hold up. Fertiliser is used in so many recipes during the biomass phases that the outdoor planter was a godsend. Unfortunately it was locked behind tonnes of insects, which the next bottleneck will talk about.
I think it might be good to have a composting device of some sort, maybe using all those larva that show up, or at least make the vegtables in the recipe interchangeable.
The Mutagen T2 Bottleneck
This item is needed to not only make the high output butterfly larva but also the insect spreading rocket. Since the game currently only has a few ways to spread insects, getting a better output was limited to scavenging for butterfly larva in the wild.
I think the Mutagen T2 recipe should be unlocked earlier, or that there should be intermediate insect spreaders. There might also be a great opportunity for setup synergy, with the output of the insect spreaders being multiplied by nearby flower spreaders. Bees and butterflies do like their nectar and pollen.
The Fish Bottleneck
The animal research line currently has the same problem as the insect line. The fish are produced in grams in large aquariums, and the actual fish spreader is locked behind tonnes of fish with no intermediate production method.
I think more kinds of drones can be used to amplify the output of both the insect and the animal trees. If they can carry rocks, they can scatter seeds, spores and eggs. Maybe they could be tethered to the stationary spreaders and multiply their range also.
Machine Synergy
Having the auto crafters and drones amplify the players material output is good. It can probably be done with more than just drones though. If a tree, grass and flower spreader are all close to each other, they are creating a haven for insects and this could translate to them having an insect output from being close to each other, or boosting a nearby insect spreader. This can probably be done with the algae and the insect spreaders for the fish. Areas with lots of food for fish will sustain more of them.

trygve replied to Three Big Biomass Bottlenecks (Spoilers) June 1, 2023 @ 11:46:27 am PDTOdds are that the developers already have plans to change the requirements slightly, and that they've been set slightly higher than they should because there's nothing yet to take over. There's no amphibians, yet, and that's supposed to be the next stage.
Eggplants...
Most players have more eggplant seeds than they can shake a cat at, so why not build a few more Food Growers early on? Stock up a little bit?
Calm down. Enjoy the scenery. Go look for treasure! Have fun!
Spell dirty words using large Compartments...
Machine synergy, and possibly overlap penalties would be good though.
(Lumping half a dozen grass spreeaders together shouldn't result in 6x O2 and Biomass)
