Price

I understand that the game costs money, but I am really upset about it. I really want the game but I can't get it since it costs money. I waited pretty long for it.

Same here. I get the dev and they said one could get it during a sale or smth and almost everyone would offer a discount during Christmas sale, if even only for 15 Euro instead of 10 Euro, but sadly, that's also not the case here. Was really looking forward to this. Not saying it won't be a good game, but too many say it's too short etc. and like the dev said, for me, it'd be too much to pay for atm. So yes, I will sadly need to wait for a sale, which could take a while as it looks.

the game was really good although 6-7 hours of game play for $30AUD? Thats actually ridiculous, I expected more levels.

I'm really sad that they decided not to go with the Steam Winter sale.

I'm all in favour of devs determining what a fair price for their game is. But as a consumer with finite money and attention, I'd be stupid not to weigh my different options for joy per hour per dollar. 20 Euros just has a lot of excellent competition, I'm afraid.

Agreed. I dont own the game, love its concept but for the amount of content, I just cant justify paying £15.50 for it.
I know people say 'its an indie game, it took years to make' etc. But look at say Stardew valley for example... it was made by one person over several years (and has been updated + expanded for the past 6 years) and offers literally hundreds of hours of gameplay for £10.99. Same story with a lot of other games.

If Unpacking had been in the winter sale at a discount of 35% or more I would almost certainly of bought it. I also firmly believe that if its full price was £5 less , it probably would have sold exponentially more copies.

You guys shouldn't nickel and dime yourselves out of a great experience-- I doubt anyone regrets having played this game. I would be nice if literally everything was $5 cheaper.

I see what you mean, but like @Nefrarya implied, there are tonnes of amazing games with lots of content in this kind of price range. If everyone bought great but super short games for £15+ then most people couldn't afford a decent library. For me no matter how good the game seems, if its £15+ then I'd expect at least 8-10 hours of 'taking my time' enjoyment. I've seen positive reviews for Unpacking saying they took their time and finished it in 3.5 hours. I just cant buy into that.

Each to their own though, I'm not trying to bash the game, dev's or its fans. Just my opinion.

I have tons of games on my wishlist, all of which would give me great experiences. I'm not saying the game isn't worth it, just that the price-value proposition isn't cutting it for me with the competition it has.

If you want a low cost game that you can play for several hundred hours, try Banished. The base game is good and even better with major mods. It's usually priced under $10 during sales.

Definitely wouldn't have bought this game if I knew how short it is. I played through this twice in under 3 hours. Wish I could get my money back.

Based on the Steam page, the full game was officially released November 2021. It hasn't been out a full two months yet. Not shocked it hasn't been a part off any Winter Sale/Steam-wide sales yet or discounts. Guessing within 6-12 months this will not be a $20 game.

It took me 5.4 hours to complete the game - at a casual pace! I usually figure that if I get a few hours of play for each $1 spent the game is worth it. However, I'm not sure this game should cost anything - it just doesn't offer a reasonable amount of play time..

I believe the price is more than fair. It's the price of a couple of Chipotle burritos. Or a couple of matinee movie tickets. Consider that the money goes toward supporting the talented people involved in making and releasing the game. The more they get, the more likely it is that they will be able to continue making games in the future.
