Absurd price

Even Death Stranding is cheaper than this indie game, these devs are completely delusional.. And they're only gonna throw 20% off on the first sale, watch...
I won't pay more than 10€ for this, and that should be the base price already. No replayability, and a gameplay of 3 hours. Hilarious...

Price point is a bit cheeky for sure but she knew she could get away with it because the core concept is brilliant and very much a safe value. I generally only buy games that will provide at least one hour of play per dollar and I opted to buy this one regardless of how short it is( did research before hand) simply because it's just too conceptually and visually appealing.

Dev deserves her success but going over twice the amount of dollar per hour is definitely cheeky and will make some people( like OP) resentful. According to my own guidelines the game should have been priced at 9.99$ and at the MOST, 14.99$.

Played it on GamePass. Beat it, then watched my SO beat it. I would have paid $10-15 for it for sure.

Comparing prices is silly. Why not compare this to the price of a movie ticket? A dinner? A toy?

Then go play that other game then.

I disagree that there's no replayability. There's so many options on how to complete each level, and then if you go in and turn off the puzzle mode, there's even more options. There's really unlimited replayability.

I've beat the game six times. Not having replay ability is really up to the person... I've also put 12 hours into the game, and that's not counting how many I spent on the demo alone.

Price seems fair. It's not overly expensive, and it's not ridiculously cheap.

price complaints are always so weird to me. You can always argue that literally anything costs too much or that it costs very little. I could say that $20 is basically nothing because "that's just two lattes with tip, or two beers at a bar! or you could say that $20 is a lot because "a family could eat for days on $20!"

personally i would rather always pay $20 for indie games, knowing that a lot of that money is actually going to a person rather than a bunch of CEOs.

It's not silly at all, a dinner or movie is something that gets you out of the house and is typically better for you than sitting at home playing a video game. Often times, worth the cost - unless you have an issue. That said, someone has to cook the food, the movie theatre has to pay licensing fees for the film and in some cases may have to pay for the land they're on. It costs nothing to digitally redistribute a video game.

If you enjoyed the game, that's wonderful, but I can't comprehend why after all these years 'gamers' try to justify their purchases by hours spent(not necessarily enjoyed) and always, always compare things to going to a theater. Not everyone goes to the damn movies.

Eat local then? Labour is a huge part of the cost, the CEO taking a 10m bonus is a bit immoral but's paltry for companies like starbucks generating tens of billions of sales. Look at shareholders, dividends paid, etc. Even then, you'll find most of that money is going to labour, despite employees not making very much. Restaurants/cafes in general are not high margin businesses.

If in another year or two this game is still $20 I'd probably roll my eyes. But for a niche title that is unlikely to have mass appeal, selling at a premium in its first few months seems completely reasonable to me. The people who love this kind of thing (and have the budget for it) can support it at that price. And then it can go on sale and everyone who wishlisted it can get it.

If the price doesn't make sense to you right now, it's also COMPLETELY reasonable not to get it. That's fine, zero shade. Wait for it to get cheaper.

(edit: fwiw I'd rather pay twice as much for a shorter game that feels complete and is satisfying throughout than a 40 hour game that spends most of its energy wasting my time)

To me it seems overpriced but, only counting Steam, at full price it has sold over 100.000 copies...
