Why do crits in a head on crash not give me kill credit?

Head-on collisions are a regular occurrence in this game, often resulting in critical hits that leave little time to react and evade. As a consequence, both you and your opponent end up crashing into each other, but no kill credit is awarded. Instead, the game simply notifies that both of you crashed, as if colliding with a mountain. This raises the question: what purpose does this serve? Wouldn't it be more logical to grant credit when the opponent suffers significant damage?

Maybe try not ramming enemies in head-ons? Why are you even doing that?

And no kill for either player seems fair, you both messed up and crashed.
