How bad is the grind for this game?
Asking since I've played World of Tanks since like 2010 and It took me literally that long to unlock my E-100 lol I'm wondering how bad the grind for this game compared to WOT? I know the tank combat is arguably better but I don't wanna spend like six months on a crappy, low tier tank lol

You can certainly get out of the bottom tier in a matter of days if you've got a decent amount of play time available, and probably faster if you don't care about completing all the vehicles as you go. The second tier is a bit bulkier, but you should get into the third before too long.
In tanks the first tier is largely low-performing inter-war designs. They can be quite fun, but they're definitely crappy low tier tanks.
Second tier is generally tanks that weren't obsolete at the start of the war but were by the end.
Third tier I think is more or less tanks that were viable at the end of the war. Subsequent tiers move into post-war tanks.
Note: the tiers are not strictly historical progression in any sense, some post-war light vehicles appear at pretty low tiers. And this whole thing is a loose attempt to describe a mechanic that barely has any in-game effect anyway.
Back to the grind: You probably won't find it takes too long to get at least mid-war tanks. The grind keeps scaling up as you progress to and beyond the end of WWII though. There's plenty of grind for the top-tier near-modern stuff. (Near-modern in tanks. Top tier in air or naval is farther from modern AFAICT.)

tanks with low gun pen, little armor for it's tier etc
I'd rather play a PZIV or a T-34 than zip around in a PZ II lol

Yeah you may want to avoid this (unless you are willing to go premium)

Reber replied to How bad is the grind for this game? January 24, 2022 @ 7:43:19 pm PSTDepends on your wallet size or lack there off. If you are F2p can take a while. If you throw money at the game will not take too long. Just like WOT. Hope that answers you question.

Reber replied to How bad is the grind for this game? January 24, 2022 @ 7:51:20 pm PSTThere about. You can level fast in low tiers to mid tiers after that its just become bad for f2p. Still doable, but yah you know the rest.Depends on your wallet size or lack there off. If you are F2p can take a while. If you throw money at the game will not take too long. Just like WOT. ãđĸđžđđđđã replied to How bad is the grind for this game? January 24, 2022 @ 7:52:57 pm PSTIf you are a player like me who wants to spade 100% of vehicles not including event vehicles/premiums. Then horrible. You can view big YouTubers who have been playing for years and only recently unlocked 100% of vehicles purely because they use the GE they get from subscribers to purchase vehicles and modules.
I've been playing since 2015 off and on, after 4.5k (Let's be conservative and say only 2k of those are decent games.) I've yet to fully unlock or spade any tree in-game. My highest only being Germany with the 10.0 Leo 2A4. Don't get me wrong, there are fun moments. A majority of players stick to low tier because it's generally more balance, the economy is better overall, and tanks are much more reliant on skill than point n clicking.
But this game will force you to pay out of the wallet if you want progress. Whether that be buying premiums for grinding SL fast (don't hit me with the "play low tier", no one wants to grind for hours or save up boosters for a long time to get one good game.), buying premium time to get better SL and RP gains, or overall just buying market place vehicles to either have fun or to grind a country.
A lot of people say it, I say it. War Thunder isn't the worst game ever. However, I would never, ever, recommend this game to someone who isn't willing to commit their life to it.

I'll tell you, the whole day everything was perfectly fine, that one single match I have a +150% RP Booster active for, I get packet loss and get soaked into the ground right after taking off.

It is and isn't. From my understanding (never played WoT), the devs there are just plain incompetent and the game is overall horridly balance. War Thunders devs are just malicious

The Tier 1 & Reserves of the German PzII and their HVAP-T will Shread anything aside Frontal Heavy Armor to shreads, And the Germans has 3 to bring onto the field. It can even kill the French B1 Bis & Ter. tanks with low gun pen, little armor for it's tier etc

Even more scary but thankfully it's the only Premium ones are the Sd.Kfz variants in both Tier 1 & 2. These are monsters at the Hands of a Good German Player.
