I really like how War Thunder plays, both on the ground and in the air. My problems are that I'm not a big fan of the monetization model, and I'm not often in the mood for playing multiplayer with other people. I'd like to hear some recommendations for games that play like War Thunder either in the plane or tank combat, but are primarily single player that I only need to purchase once.

I suppose that would Gajins earlier games like il2 sturmovik, il2 1946, il2 birds of prey etc. Basicly il2 series.

I'd heard of those games. They're definitely on my radar, but can you think of anything for the tank combat? It playing exactly like Warthunder isn't important so long as it isn't a granular simulator that takes half the keyboard to play. What I would like though is the variety, not necesarily the over a thousand vehicles War Thunder has, but a decent selection would definitely be something I'd appreciate.

Well thats hard to tell, i personaly havent seen any tank combat sim games or atleast i dont remember them. But there surely are some tank combat games around.

I know the most recent IL-2 Game does actually have tanks in it. Steel armor: blaze of war is also a good tank sim. Although it is more complicated than War thunder by a large margin. You could also look into doing some custom missions in War Thunder from the gaijin website. Its not super hard to look up how to download and install them. Hope this helped.

There really aren't any that I can think of off the top of my head. Gaijin really nailed this niche of the gaming market and practically have a monopoly at this point because there isn't anything else being developed or has existed to this level of detail.
